What I see in the verses is that the "man of Romans 7" is trying to keep the law "in the flesh". He's trying to "earn" his way to heaven by keeping the law, but the law only condemns him. He is convicted that the law is right, and good and holy. But try as he might, he can't live up to it.
Tomorrows lesson (chapter 8)points out the "flesh" can't do it.
But Christ has freed us from the condemnation of the law and from the power of sin. When we invite Christ and the Holy Spirit into our lives and live by the spirit, then the deeds of the flesh can be put to death, as we are led by the Spirit.
