Table Format Testing

Table Format Testing - 12/30/08 07:14 PM

I am not certain how table formatting works, or whether it can even be done, however, I have set up this testing topic to find out.

Re: Table Format Testing - 12/30/08 07:18 PM

From my initial researching, I don't think tables can be done here, however, I am still researching this.

UBB Code doesn't allow for coding and for security reasons HTML is not enabled for every member, however, if you know the HTML code for tables, I could set up a special HTML enabled member group. wave

I actually set up a special HYML enabled members group, however, this will be extended to some members on an as needed basis.

Hi Daryl, it looks like you should be able to enable HTML somewhere in this software. If I understand, we need to request it? I need to send a table on a HTML format, can you grant my request?

Elle,

I am going to set you up so that you can use HTML, therefore, if you are familiar with HTML codes, you should be able to set up a table.

Re: Table Format Testing - 12/30/08 09:19 PM

Elle,

You should now be able to use HTML both here and in the Life of Christ forum. wave

You may want to do some table testing here first, unless you are already familiar with it.

Re: Table Format Testing - 12/31/08 12:44 AM

Hi Daryl, I'm no expert in using forums. I do know a little about HTML and regularly use it to update websites etc... However, I'm unable to make this work. It seems this software compiler is not noticing it is HTML code even thought I have the Markup as Using HTML. I've tried different type of code. I must agree my file was pretty large. I'll try again with a simple HTML file. If you don't here from me again. Then it's because It was not a success. I did follow the instruction below. I wonder if there is a precode like {html}? I tried that too, but did not work.

Here is what the FAQ of this software says: There are 2 ways that this can be configured on a per-forum basis. If HTML is On then you will see HTML is On and you can use normal HTML in your posts. If UBBCode is on you will see UBBCode is On.

Re: Table Format Testing - 12/31/08 04:06 PM

For what it's worth, here is some simple HTML table code:
<table><tr><td>one</td><td>two</td></tr></table>

It should produce one row of two columns with the words "one" and "two" in the columns.

However, if as Daryl said elsewhere that HTML is turned off due to recommendations, it won't work. There must be more than one way of turning it off.

Re: Table Format Testing - 12/31/08 04:52 PM

Hi Klang, Thanks for the code and helping to solve this. Daryl did give the priviledge to test this by enabling HTML. I tried your code which I got the same result with my tests. The software compiler just spit out the same code without converting it.

Re: Table Format Testing - 12/31/08 05:01 PM

Kland & Daryl, it did work, but it was only able to take 1/4 of my table and cut the rest out. Daryl is there somewhere where you can increase the size?

I just assumed it wasn't working because the Preview Post spit out the code again, but once it is submitted then it is compiled only at that time.

I am going to try the html code I used for the top of each page here in this post to see what happens.

This is what I used in the previous post, that will need to be tweaked for its various usages:

Re: Table Format Testing - 12/31/08 05:05 PM

As it has made this too wide, I am going to do some tweaking in that post to remove at least one column.

This is what the html code looks like after I did some tweaking to remove the image, four columns, etc.

Elle,

I will let you do some playing with that code to revise it to do what you want it to do.

Looks like both Elle and I are experimenting here. laugh

Re: Table Format Testing - 12/31/08 05:16 PM

I was please with the test Daryl and the software has no problem to take HTML as far as I can see it. Of course, for your text of the Maritime Advent Believer, it has shronk to fit the space allow, which is fine. The info is not compromise. But in my example, 3/4 of my table was cut off because of size restriction. The HTML code for my table, is like thousands of lines. I didn't write these, but my software did. All I did was copy my table to the Front page sofware, and voila I had HTML code. I believe anyone can do this with with Microsof WORD or other editing type of software also, but I never used Word for it.

Re: Table Format Testing - 12/31/08 05:23 PM

As I saw that the html code wasn't completed at the bottom, I edited in what I thought was the missing information, however, it still needs work done with it.

Re: Table Format Testing - 12/31/08 05:27 PM

I am having fun playing with the one you did, however, it still isn't doing what both you and I probably want it to do.

For some reason, these do not seem to be working. I have enabled both the HTML and the UBBCode options, and yet neither seem to allow tables.

Test

[h2]Test 2[/h2]

Nor headings...

BOLD THIS and BOLD THAT.

And even the ... tag, which ordinarily works, seems non-functional here.

Any ideas as to why?

I was preparing to use a table format for a new series of posts...but looks like I'll be unable.

Blessings,

Green Cochoa.

Re: Table Format Testing - 02/21/09 05:36 PM

Ok. I see that it does actually work AFTER the post has been submitted, but not during preview.

Daryl, is there any way this can also function during preview? And, additionally, I was not given the HTML option in other parts of the forum, only here. Is there a way to extend this function to the "HTML-users" group for other areas of the forum besides the testing section? (Or perhaps I just haven't figured out how I'm supposed to use the feature yet.)

Blessings,

Green Cochoa.
