There are many people and a great number of Adventist members in its path to say nothing of those on low lying islands and a storm surge of 7-11 feet which may sweep completely over them.

"..Hurricane Matthew, a massive Category 4 storm, turns northwest.. Hurricane Matthew May Be Catastrophic Strike in Haiti; Hurricane Warnings in Jamaica, Cuba and Bahamas....
Hurricane Matthew, a potentially devastating Category 4 storm, finally took its long anticipated turn to the north as it nears Haiti and Jamaica, CBS Miami reports.

It’s northward turn has prompted some officials on the U.S. East Coast to start making preparations.

The storm swirled across the Caribbean Sunday toward Haiti and Jamaica, where residents frantically stocked up on emergency supplies and authorities urged people to evacuate threatened areas.

South Carolina’s emergency preparedness officials have begun preparing for Hurricane Matthew.

The U.S. State Department warned American citizens to leave both Haiti and the Bahamas in advance of the storm....STORM SURGE: The combination of a dangerous storm surge and large

Here is the latest update,

"...DEVELOPING News Oct 6 2016, 1:38 am ET
Strengthening Hurricane Matthew Could Be 'Devastating' for Bahamas...Hurricane Matthew re-intensified as it crept early Thursday toward the Bahamas, where forecasters warned of "devastating impacts" from rain, wind and floods.

The U.S. National Hurricane Center said at 11 p.m. ET that outer winds of Matthew were raking the northern island of New Providence — home to Nassau, the capital, and about 70 percent of the country's 250,000 people.

"It's pounding the Bahamas right now," said Ari Sarsalari, a meteorologist for The Weather Channel. "The center of this storm is going to make a very close pass, if not a direct hit," in Nassau, he said...."Strengthening is expected during the next 24-36 hours," said the National Hurricane Center, which predicted that Matthew would charge back up to category 4 later Thursday, with "very dangerous" winds of at least 130 mph.....

"Matthew is likely to produce devastating impacts from storm surge, extreme winds and heavy rains in the Bahamas," it said.

The projected path of the storm, according to the latest data from the National Hurricane Center:
•Thursday morning and afternoon: Some strengthening, possibly to category 4, with the worst conditions occurring in Nassau and New Providence. Tropical storm conditions are first expected in Florida.
•Thursday evening and Friday morning: A turn toward the north-northwest is expected as Matthew approaches Florida.
•Friday afternoon and evening: Matthew will roll near the east coast of the Florida peninsula, with central coastal Florida experiencing hurricane conditions throughout the day.....
...we are going to be hit a glancing blow here in Florida, but its strengthening so still could be dangerous.

I was shown that the judgments of God would not come directly out from the Lord upon them, but in this way: They place themselves beyond His protection. He warns, corrects, reproves, and points out the only path of safety; then if those who have been the objects of His special care will follow their own course independent of the Spirit of God, after repeated warnings, if they choose their own way, then He does not commission His angels to prevent Satan's decided attacks upon them. It is Satan's power that is at work at sea and on land, bringing calamity and distress, and sweeping off multitudes to make sure of his prey. And storm and tempest both by sea and land will be, for Satan has come down in great wrath. He is at work. He knows his time is short and, if he is not restrained, we shall see more terrible manifestations of his power than we have ever dreamed of. {14MR 3.1}

When we got hit by the last Category 5 Hurricane, Andrew, it was only 50-70 miles across. Hurricane Matthew was almost 10 times that size....its getting to that time..

Somebody was definitely praying, as I woke up and saw the Hurricane turn slightly and miss hitting the land. I told my wife it was shifting right as it came to make landfall, you could see it turning. Its just a few miles off Florida's coast running parallel to the beach, but no direct hit....http://www.cnn.com/2016/10/06/us/hurricane-matthew-live-updates/
