The Disciples - 10/26/00 05:04 PM

I actually have a tune in my head for this poem I wrote yesterday during a lunch break! But; the singing part will have to wait!

The Disciples
by David T. Battler
October 2000

“God forbid that I should glory; save in the cross of Jesus Christ...” (Gal.6:14).

They say they saw my Saviour bleed
For me He bled and died
And now I go to Calvary
To rest there at His side.

They say they saw my Saviour bleed
He died to plant love’s seed
He took the pain to still my soul
And meet my pressing need.

They say they saw my Saviour bleed
He knows the hurt and tears
And now I go to Calvary
To give my Lord my fears.

They say they saw my Saviour bleed
To intercede for me
And now I come to Calvary
This truth to set me free.

They say they saw my Saviour bleed
For you He bled and died
Now you must go to Calvary
To rest there at His side.

Chorus:

He is Christ! He is Christ!
He is Jesus Christ my Lord!
He has paid the price,
that I can ne’r afford!
So I rest my case
in amazing grace!
And He is Jesus Christ
my risen Lord!

Now all we need is the music to it.

But this program won't allow us to type in musical scores.

Cheer Up Brothers and Sisters In Christ!

I can help you with this dilema - a little bit...I think.

How this poem came to me was really interesting. I was driving in my van on the way to a job, and I started out trying to sing a song in our hymnal: #163, entitled: "At The Cross."

I couldn't remember the words very well, so being a bit of a poet; I asked God for some other words; and this is what came out.

So just turn to hymn #163 and try out these words with the song. I did it for my wife in the van; and she thought it was great.

Hope this helps you to sing praises and testimony to our Lord through these words.

Isn't Jesus wonderful?
