Standing On The Promises

This thread is for sharing the many promises contained in God’s Word, Spirit Of Prophecy, Christian Hymns, etc.

One promise at a time, and just a short explanation/testimony for each one would be best for this topic.

I have the first one from Spirit Of Prophecy. This has been a precious promise during some really dark and trying chapters in my life:

“The Savior is by the side of His tempted and tried ones. With Him there can be no such thing as failure, loss, impossibility, or defeat.” DA 490

Jude 24 is not worded as a promise, but it is indeed a promise. Everything that God says he is able to do for us is a promise that He will do it if we will only ask him.

"Now to Him who is able to keep you from stumbling, and to present you faultless before the presence of His glory with exceeding joy...."

This is one of the most important Bible promises to me, knowing my own weakness, that there is simply no way that I can possible remain faithful to God in my own strength. He has promised to do for me what I cannot do for myself, and therefore, I can rest secure that I can be ready to meet Him when Jesus returns, not because I am able to make or keep myself ready, but because He is able!

In John 16:33b Jesus promises His followers that they will have "tribulation."

It seems strange to see hope in Christ's promise of trouble, but His assurance at the end makes up for the picture of dread:

"I have told you all this so that you may have peace in Me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. but take heart, because I have overcome the world." John 16:33 NLT

Isaiah 43:1-3:
But now, thus says the Lord, who created you, O Jacob, and He who formed you, O Israel: "Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by your name; you are Mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned, nor shall the flame scorch you. For I am the Lord your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior...."

God has definitely kept this promise to me and my family. No matter what troubles we may have, He is always there with us, bringing good out of all of it, in one way or another. Like the related promise:

"And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose." Romans 8:28.

I can't remember the text, but it is the verse that promises

"He will not tempt you beyond that which you can stand" This is a very uplifting verse in that when you feel that discouragement arises, it is possible to recognize that it is bearable because Jesus is by our side and "Will never leave you nor forsake you".

Hi Sarah,

The text you are thinking of is the following:

1 Corinthians 10:13 "There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it."

It is a wonderful promise, isn't it!

I came across this in an e mail newsletter I get from Signs Of The Times. Let us each take a promise of God, that we know is just for us, in our respective, unique circumstamces, and claim the same principle, of power in the Word:

"Quote: "Were it the case that thirty-one thousand nine hundred and ninety-nine of the thirty-two thousand promises said to be in the Bible were erased, there is enough comfort, strength, richness, sunshine, and music in this one ('Lo, I am with you alway') to cheer every downcast, every weary,
every destitute, every despondent, pilgrim as he journeys heavenward."

Quoted by Julius L. Tucker, Signs of the Times, January 20,1942."
