Jesus is Lord of my life - 12/30/00 11:39 PM

I don't know how far back into the past I'll go with this. After years of wallowing in the memories and living in the past, the Lord has FINALLY got me to live in the present. YEAH!!

And I'll say to Gerry and others right up front you may have to wait awhile for the Lord to work out certain parts of my testimony since He isn't finished with me yet.

Since Ed has already posted about a part of my life on the Single Mother and Oatmeal thread, I'll start with that.

Wow, one year ago!! Actually, over one year ago now. Has it really been that long??

I got the idea to download the New York City Net99 sessions just as Pastor Doug was finished with each one. I used a program called GetRight which allows multiple downloading sessions in case of disconnection problems, or just because the file is too large to do at one sitting.

I think the smallest file of Net99 was around 45mb, which using a V.90 modem takes at least 2 1/2 hours or more. The biggest file was almost 60mb.

Of course, satan got angry and decided he was going to mess around with this plan. I ended up changing my phone number TWICE during the six weeks due to my line getting cut repeatedly, and even refusing to connect with the server and also going long intervals of just plain not downloading at all while connected.

Every time I would change my phone number, I would have absolutely no trouble with any of my internet surfing and downloading for the first two weeks. Everything would go very speedy. When *whoever* it was would catch up with my new phone number, net pages would take a long time to load into my browser and the line would start being cut repeatedly again.

The last time I changed it, it took only 8 days for the trouble to begin again... which didn't bother me anymore, since I had finished the download of the last Net99 session less than 24 hours earlier!!

So the money spent in getting my number changed was worth it!!

I also had put 4 audio cassette tapes of Will Baron's series in Melbourne on the New Age onto my hard drive, and with the RealProducer program, I had made them into 8 RealAudio files.

I also downloaded the RealPlayer for different operating systems and put them into a folder under their OS name.

I then bought a CD writer and proceeded to burn the Net99 RealVideo files, Will Baron's series and the RealPlayer files onto 3 CD's.

I spoke about this with both Pastor Doug and Will Baron and have their permission to distribute these CD's to those who wish them.

I do not sell them; I only ask a $10 donation for each set, which just covers my expenses including shipping.

There are sets now in Australia; Romania; Bulgaria; Canada and the US!!

I recommend copying them from the cd's onto the hard drive (takes about 1gb of space) and watching them from there. There is no net congestion to deal with and they look quite nice.

As a witnessing tool, one could even put them onto a laptop to take from place to place. And it sure is nice to watch them on Friday evenings without having to dress up and go anywhere!

So a person could purchase a hard drive & a kit to make it hotswappable & portable, and find hardware to create a hand held player of sorts to put this hard drive in.

Then have the hardware and software to create a handheld system that connectable to anybody's TV. in their home and instant Bible studies/powerpoint presentations/ECT/whatever's on their hard drive & so on. ?

Sort of like what Laymen Ministry International's people are using in India. They use a CD Video player - a different format than ours but that's where I got the above mentioned ideas . A systen small enough for a big pocket in cargo style pants or a reasonable sized pocket book.

Or a system using a higher pixel density / more frames per second - HDTV broadcast quality with one or two lessons packed on one CD & played using some kind of small dedicated CD Video style American format player.

How about we start a techno evangelist resources and tools thread under evangelism to discuss & plan out this kind of stuff ? In fact I'll just go do it. see you there.
