Out of the Cities

Out of the Cities - 11/26/14 03:02 AM

There are many times when God inspired EGW to write -- "Get out of the cities".
The economic controls will be less stressful
The evil of the cities less influential
when one lives in places other than in the cities.

Once, May 10, 1906, she linked it to Revelation 11 saying it reveals what will happen in the cities. (21MR p.91)
Now in other places, EGW talks of Revelation 11 in regard to the French Revolution. The prediction is that the scenes of the Reign of terror in France will take place in the cities --
So "get out of the cities"

What is now in the news --
Crazy rioting in Ferguson, Missouri-- cars and buildings being set on fire, window smashing, gun shooting, vandalism.
Why? Because people think a verdict was unfair, that the whole system of law is unfair.
I'm not saying it was or wasn't fair. There is much happening that is not fair.
The problem is how violently people react.

The French revolution was set ablaze because the peasants were not being treated fairly. The system was not fair. The violent reaction led to lots of other unfair actions, a great lose of life and a reign of terror.

It's a small sample of what I believe will be happening more and more in the large cities. Revolution -- riots --

God has our well being in mind when He sends messages to "get out of the cities" trouble is coming upon them.

Amen! The dynamics that make "cities" unsafe may very well exist in rural areas, too. Intolerance is everywhere. Bigots and racists love country-living. In high-rise apartments tenants tend to mind their own business. They are less likely to lash out and hurt one another. A time is coming, though, when having room enough to have a garden and small orchard will enable them to live like kings and queens. I'm very happy for our country home.

Did you say: Amen, but not really, but maybe?

I don't know -- apartment living has considerable stress. Noise level, especially in the musical realms can get neighbors pretty angry with each other.

However, looking at it from the perspective of "disasters" --being in a city is bad. Electricity goes out, water supply stops, stores don't open and -- people get desperate and do crazy things, society is totally disorganized and can no longer deliver the services upon which the inhabitants totally depend for life itself. And usually at that time the roads are all jammed or blocked so one can't even leave the cities.

Very true. Country living is the best.

Agreed.

But, country living takes more development. Water and electricity can both be hard to come by. But, if you can get everything set up well, country living would be the best.

Aout 18 months ago we moved from our country home into town and live now in the fifth floor where all is peace and quiet and where wwe have a lovely view of nature, claciers, volcanoes, hot springs and a river flowing right by.

Advanced age made it difficult to keep the garden and house in order. Here we are close to our church, a hopital - and a graveyard, but just a small village.

Country - yes definitely, at least while the children are young.

And it's sad that I've heard some say they live in the city for their children and when they are gone (!), they will move out to the country.

For the last 10 years we have been staying all winter in our RV. Our house in the mountains is difficult to manage in deep snow. By following the sun south we extend our growing season.

Faith, hope, love, happiness, can far better be gained in retired places, where there are fields and hills and trees.

We still have this in our small village. We moved away from our country home so our grandchildren could enjoy country life.
