Spring Stroll

Spring Stroll - 01/19/01 02:31 AM

“Spring moves north at a rate of about 16 miles a day. That means a person walking at a good pace could keep up with it, watching dogwoods, tulips and daffodils come into bloom along the way.”

Birds and Blooms, February/March 2001, p.60.

Anybody care to join me for a nice, long walk?

OK but you'll have to head to the Deep South. They start blooming there really early. By the end of February and early March, the flowers lovely, the birds are getting ready to head north, and farmers are starting to plow. Gonna need some good walkin' shoes, though.

My hiking boots are very comfortable. What I'd need most to get for such a trip is a good backpack. Seriously, a trip like this would take a lot of planning and preparation, and it isn't an option for me this year, but I'd love to do it. I think I'll add it to my list of things to do once my kids are grown up and have left home.
