Good catch John! That really is unfortnate that companies do this..
Here is a free Antivirus app that I currently use (testing at the moment), but I prefer Kapersky (www.avp.ch). ANyways the link to the free Antivirus tool is:

They have some good info on virus & worm removal and have utilities to do so for free.

I guess there is a lot of spyware stuff out there.
