In the first lecture Sigve Tonstad shows how the "Great" church father Augustine of Hippo changed the understanding of the nature of God in the Church. He also shows how this understanding is still inherent both in the Roman Catholic church and most protestant churches today.
Even though the Great Controversy theme which is made transparent in the book of Revelation gives the real picture of God, many Seventh-day Adventists still cling to the Augustinian concept. Could this be an even greater danger than most of the other items we are discussing? Could this lead to our final acceptance of Babylon without realizing it?

This is the word which comes to us from Christ. If it had been essential for us to search the [church] Fathers, Christ would have told us so. But the Fathers do not all speak the same thing. Which of them shall we choose as a guide? There is no need for us to trust to uncertainty. We pass by the Fathers to learn of God out of His Word. This is life eternal, to know God. {6MR 175.3}
Tonstad is right on. Thank you Johann for actually taking the time to listen to the podcasts! Some do not understand what the quoations marks around great mean, "Great".

These lectures indicate that many Adventists are not even scratcing the surface of the message of Revelation.

Yes this might be proof that you have accepted Babylon without realizing it. If you had read the whole post and listened to the lecture you would have known that this is a warning against the influence of church father Augustine. You might also come to the realization that the opposition against the ordination of women is based on the predestination of Augustine that was accepted by Calvin, but rejected by the Seventh-day Adventist church. In this area we have always rejected Augustine but followed the Scriptural interpretation of Arminius.
