Perhaps the most important question of all time for sinners is this: How are we saved? Many discussions take place on this very question, and sadly, many seem not to understand it well. Please enter your opinion in the attached poll, then feel free to discuss your thoughts in further detail here in this thread.
God bless,
Green Cochoa.
We can receive of heaven's light only as we are willing to be emptied of self. We can discern the character of God, and accept Christ by faith, only as we consent to the bringing into captivity of every thought to the obedience of Christ. And to all who do this, the Holy Spirit is given without measure. In Christ "dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily. And ye are complete in Him." [Colossians 2:9, 10.] {GW 57.1} -- Ellen White.

"No matter who you are or what your life has been, you can be saved only in God's appointed way. You must repent; you must fall helpless on the Rock, Christ Jesus. You must feel your need of a physician and of the one only remedy for sin, the blood of Christ. This remedy can be secured only by repentance toward God and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ.
"Here the work is yet to be begun by many who profess to be Christians and even to be ministers of Christ. Like the Pharisees of old many feel no need of a Saviour. They are self-sufficient, self-exalted. Said Christ: "I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance." The blood of Christ will avail for none but those who feel their need of its cleansing power. {5T 218.3} What surpassing love and condescension, that when we had no claim upon divine mercy, Christ was willing to undertake our redemption! But our great Physician requires of every soul unquestioning submission. We are never to prescribe for our own case. Christ must have the entire management of will and action. {5T 219.1}

1. The unmerited love of your heavenly Father
John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
2. The atoning sacrifice of Christ Jesus
Romans 5:8-9 But God commends his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved
3. Entering in at the door of the sheepfold
John 10:7 Then said Jesus unto them again, Verily, verily, I say unto you, I am the door of the sheep. 10:9 I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture. 4. Forming characters like the character of Christ. (This is a result of Christ's saving power -- not a means to gain salvation. But if we resist the work of the Holy Spirit in our lives, and fail to surrender ourselves to Christ, Christ cannot save us, because we resist that saving grace)
1 John 2:28-29 And now, little children, abide in him; that, when he shall appear, we may have confidence, and not be ashamed before him at his coming. If ye know that he is righteous, ye know that every one that does righteousness is born of him. 3:2-3 Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it does not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is. And every one that has this hope in him purifies himself, even as he is pure. 3:10 In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever does not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loves not his brother Ephesians 2:10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.
5. The grace of Christ
Ephesians 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: [it is] the gift of God:
6. Through faith in Jesus Christ 2 Timothy 3:15 And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. Romans 5:1-2 Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ: By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God. Galatians 3:11 The just shall live by faith.
7. Salvation is only possible in Christ
Acts 4:12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.

By God's grace, Arnold
There is no excuse for any one in taking the position that there is no more truth to be revealed, and that all our expositions of Scripture are without an error. The fact that certain doctrines have been held as truth for many years by our people, is not a proof that our ideas are infallible. Age will not make error into truth, and truth can afford to be fair. No true doctrine will lose anything by close investigation. RH 12/20/1892
