According to the united Nations there are 195 countries. See -- World Meters However -- there are more "little countries" that don't quite qualify as being fully recognized as a country. If these are included the count naturally goes up.

That is interesting, as Elder Ted Wilson said that the SDA Church has a presence in about 215 countries.
