Even though many people today don't see why it makes a difference what day is set apart for rest and worship, satan understands the difference. He is working with unbelievable effort to get his "Sunday" honored, and to destroy God's holy day which God Himself blessed and made holy.
Satan's attack is first and foremost an attack against Christ.
He does this in very deceptive ways. Of course there are his frontal assault methods we tend to readily recognize. But there are much more dangerous deceptive attacks that come hiding under a Christian guise. He is deceptively claiming his deviations from God's law are helping humanity become better.
He promotes Sunday as honoring Christ and His resurrection, celebrating "new life" in Christ, and leaving the old legalistic Jewish ways. He wants people not to notice that he is dismantling God's law, and God's ways, trampling on the very day God Himself blessed and made holy and asked us to "remember". But his pious arguments for Sunday are voiced by thousands as truth.
God desires healthy, loving family relationships, and its true the Sabbath, as the family worships the Creator together, is a beautiful way for the family to build a happy home. But why do we hear honoring Sunday is the solution to help failing families, and even urging enforcement by governments to make Sunday the day of rest and worship, because of course he has long been in the work of substituting his Sunday in opposition to God, who gave us a day of rest and worship which God Himself made holy.
Satan clothes his deceptions in Christ centered rhetoric, and he will someday soon clothe himself as Christ in the end-time, coming to tell humanity, in sweet tones, that they need to worship on Sunday if they want all their misery to end.
Fooled by the pious sounding deceptions, the vast majority
of Christians will fall into the enemy's trap without even realizing they left the true Jesus.
The world is now on the brink of terrible times. If present world conditions keep escalating, this could well end up being the trigger that unleashes the full force to bring in the Sunday laws and persecution against all resistors.
We don't know, if the time has come when things take the final plunge into the chaos of the last day time of trouble, God knows when the time is right to let the winds of strife lose. Yet, it could come NOW, with overwhelming surprise.
But the important question we need to ask: What will it take to stand when that "great terror" "breaks upon the world as an overwhelming surprise"? When, in desperation, all forces are unleashed to bring the world into what they believe is a necessary uniform "worship", in order for God to halt the terrible trouble that will overwhelm the world ?
"Transgression has almost reached its limit. Confusion fills the world, and a great terror is soon to come upon human beings. The end is very near. We who know the truth should be preparing for what is soon to break upon the world as an overwhelming surprise. {8T 28.1}
Yes, as Satan brings together his forces to obliterate the true Sabbath, the Sabbath will be the sign of total commitment to God our Creator and Savior, BUT what will it take to receive that seal and hold fast to the sign that we are sealed?
How easy is it now to let small irritations throw us?
Jer. 12:5 If you have run with the footmen, and they wore you out, then how can you compete with horses? If in the land of safety, you stumble, then how will you do in the floods of Jordan?
The work of preparation for that time, is to commit ourselves daily to Christ NOW. We take our walk with Christ serious NOW.
With Him dwelling within us, we put aside all our rationalization and excuses that lead us away from our obedience and commitment to Christ.
Through His power as we yield ourselves to Him, we grow in faith and are changed into a likeness of His character. He becomes our all in all, and we don't want to ever betray HIM, and bow to the enemy.
in the end the Sabbath is not the savior, but it will be the sign that a person is strongly anchored and rooted in the only Savior, Jesus Christ, and will follow Him and obey Him no matter what the forces against them are.
