Standing in All the Will of God
Several texts are given for those awaiting the second Advent.
Mark 13:33,36 Take heed, watch and pray; for you do not know when the time is....Watch therefore, for you do not know when the master of the house is coming.
Titus 212-14 Say ?No? to ungodliness and worldly passions, and live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age, while we wait for the blessed hope?the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ, who gave himself for us to redeem us from all wickedness and to purify for himself a people that are his very own, eager to do what is good.
2 Peter 3:10-11 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night, in which the heavens will pass away with a great noise, and the elements will melt with fervent heat; both the earth and the works that are in it will be burned up. 11 Therefore, since all these things will be dissolved, what manner of persons ought you to be in holy conduct and godliness
Revelation 3:17-21 Because you say, "I am am rich, and have need of nothing. Yet you do not know that you are wretched, miserable, poor, blind, and naked?
18 I counsel you to buy from Me gold refined in the fire, that you may be rich;
and white garments, that you may be clothed, that the shame of your nakedness may not be revealed; and anoint your eyes with eye salve, that you may see.
19 As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten. Therefore be zealous and repent.
20 Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me. 21 To him who overcomes I will grant to sit with Me on My throne, as I also overcame and sat down with My Father on His throne.
In the message to Laodicea we have a clear formula
1. Watch, always be ready that things don't overtake you in surprise
2. Repent of your sins.
3.Avail yourself of the gifts of the Holy Spirit -- gold of faith, the eyesalve of discernment, robe of Christ's righteousness.
4. Open your hearts door and invite Jesus into your life.
Correlations between the message to Laodicea and Colossians?
Scriptures describe God's distaste for religiosity, forms without heart, religious actions without commitment, rituals without love and praise. Following man made rules, traditions, and philosophies, thinking one is following Christ while ignoring Christ's call to walk with Him.
The basic message is a call to give our lives fully to Christ, not with outward show while the heart is elsewhere, but to "love the Lord Thy God with all your heart, soul and strength" Trust and Faith in Him will never fail you.
