This is where we can ask questions about fruits and vegetables.
Here is a beginning question for us:
Can fruit and vegetables be eaten together?

Why not? Many vegetable stew I ate had apples in them for instance... tasted good.

In answer to the why not question, I decided to see what the writings of EGW had to say about it, therefore, I did a word search using "fruits and vegetables" and "meal" and this is what I found especially relevant to the question that I asked in this topic. quote:
It is not well to eat fruit and vegetables at the same meal. If the digestion is feeble, the use of both will often cause distress, and inability to put forth mental effort. It is better to have the fruit at one meal, and the vegetables at another. {CD 112.3}
NOTE: CD = Counsels on Diets and Foods (1938), Chapter 5 - Physiology of Digestion.
By the way, that is the only place in her writings where I discovered her saying that about eating fruit and vegetables at the same meal.

We have come so far in our dietary intakes. We have found out things that were never known "back in the day". If we were to hang on every word of EGW, then we shouldn't be doing a lot of what we do today. When we follow someones writings, shouldn't we determine whether or not it is relevant to today's dietary intake before just going off what she said? There are lot of things that she said that just are not justified in today's world. If we take what she says, apply it for today, then maybe, we would have a better understanding. I'm sure that there are things that are really concrete in what she says, but there are also things that they did or did not do back then that we do or don't do now. With each thing she says, we need to see how it effects us today. Not everything she says, is relevant for today.

Looked on the web for the context of this quote, was disapointed to fail finding it. Seems this book is a collection of loose quotes. Was interested in the physiology part to see if there was written anything of why this conclution is as written and perhaps also about the circubstances of its origin...

Here is the whole section below of the quote I gave above: quote:
Fruits and Vegetables
(1905) M.H. 299, 300
188. There should not be a great variety at any one meal, for this encourages overeating, and causes indigestion. {CD 112.2}
It is not well to eat fruit and vegetables at the same meal. If the digestion is feeble, the use of both will often cause distress, and inability to put forth mental effort. It is better to have the fruit at one meal, and the vegetables at another. {CD 112.3}
The meals should be varied. The same dishes, prepared in the same way, should not appear on the table meal after meal and day after day. The meals are eaten with greater relish, and the system is better nourished, when the food is varied. {CD 112.4}
NOTE: CD = Counsels on Diets and Foods (1938), Chapter 5 - Physiology of Digestion.
This section was taken from within that chapter. I have a paper version of this book showing copyright 1976 which is the same as the above quote.
I hope this helps.

Yes, this is the same as I found, which in my oppinion doesnt give any explanation to any of the quotes written. Does anyone know of the context of these quotes? Did God give ellen this or is it a result of her (as rumured) extencive library?

I've always taken the passage quoted just as it reads; fruit is still fruit and veggies are still veggies, now as they were when she was alive.
So I eat fruit in the morning with breakfast; and veggies with lunch, and supper if eaten. Maybe a bit of fruit as a snack in the evening instead of supper. Works for me.
