I shared my comments on the Progressive Adventism forum. The title is:

Quote:

Mrs. White wrote - “The way to dispel darkness is to admit light. The best way to deal with error is to present truth. It is the revelation of God’s love that makes manifest the deformity and sin of the heart centered in self.” (DA 498)

I appreciate ministers and members who live and teach the truth as it is in Jesus. Let the truth speak for itself. When the truth is shared in a loving and winsome way, like Jesus shared it, people will fall in love with Jesus. They will have a desire to imitate His example, to grow in grace, to mature in the fruits of the Spirit, just like Jesus did while He was here in the flesh.

Yes, there are times when false theories and doctrines must be met head-on. It is an unfortunate reality. Even Jesus had to deal with it. But He did it in such a way that made the truth look right and attractive. When Jesus was forced to drive out the temple traffickers, some of those who remained were children who fell asleep on His lap.

The “shaking of adventism” is a sad thing. I hate it. But it is unavoidable. Jesus will have a purified people who will proclaim the three angels’ messages in clear trumpet tones. Their mission and message will divide the world between those who have the faith and testimony of Jesus and those who do not. The majority will persecute the minority until Jesus returns and translates the latter.

Labels are ghosts. Misunderstandings are best avoided when we speak in run on sentences instead of relying on shorthand. The Bible is our “creed”, and we would do well to imitate its example when we discuss soul-saving doctrines. It is the truth that sets us free, the truth lived in and out of our lives as we choose daily to abide in Jesus in the same way He abode in the Father.

And what is the point you are trying to make with this post, especially in relation to the interview with Kirkpatrick.

Larry,

What is the difference between the saints of the last days vs. the way we should be today? Aren't we to be growing in Jesus, becoming more like Him everyday? Isn't Jesus Christ to be our perfection, today and everyday. In His justification are we not to the be climbing the ladder of growth outlined in 2 Peter?

While I share your concern for a remnant that reflects the character of Jesus, I have run into many who have become discouraged because they don't see themselves making any progress when they only want to be like Jesus. What word do we have for them?

How does LGT avoid the Galatian heresy of faith plus works to obtain salvation?

You mean you have moderating/ editing privileges at the Progressive Adventism Blog as well??

My, but you do get around!! (Hadn't expected you in that venue!)

But, if you do have editing privileges there, is it possible to make clearer who said what? Only occasionally does one get the idea of who the speaker is by his addressing someone else by name. Something (like the names/ID's of posters) seems to have been left out.

That was a fascinating read, and it would be nice to have the comments properly formatted to indicate who wrote what.

Thanks for the link back to that page!

No, you must have taken what I said the wrong way, or else I said it the wrong way. \:\)

I do not have any type of moderating powers there, but I will check it out though. \:\)

Below are a few comments from Ellen White and the Bible about our condition when Jesus comes.

 Quote:
"The soul who sees Jesus by faith, repudiates his own righteousness. He sees himself as incomplete, his repentance insufficient, his strongest faith but feebleness, his most costly sacrifice as meager, and he sinks in humility at the foot of the cross. But a voice speaks to him from the oracles of God's Word. In amazement he hears the message, 'Ye are complete in Him.'" FW 107

 Quote:
"Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is." 1 John 3:2

 Quote:
"Like Him. This points to the fulfillment of God's plan for fallen man -- restoration to the divine image...It is God's design to restore that similitude by giving man victory over sin and over every temptation. The restoration will be completed AT THE SECOND COMING." 7 BC 649

 Quote:
"Our earthly life, however long, honored, or useful it may be, is but childhood, frail, imperfect, and undeveloped. Manhood, with its full, perfect, glorious development, will come, when, freed from the taint of sin, we stand among the redeemed throng. Then we shall enjoy a life which measures with the life of God"
ST, June 9, 1881 par. 21

 Quote:
"Christ's character stands in place of your character, and you are accepted before God just as if you had not sinned." SC 62

 Quote:

"So I will be your representative in heaven. The Father beholds not your faulty character, but He sees you as clothed in My perfection. I am the medium through which Heaven's blessings shall come to you. And everyone who confesses Me by sharing My sacrifice for the lost shall be confessed as a sharer in the glory and joy of the redeemed." DA 357

 Quote:
"We are not to be anxious about what Christ and God think of us, but about what God thinks of Christ, our Substitute. Ye are accepted in the Beloved." 2SM 33
