Fires in Alberta

Fires in Alberta - 05/17/16 09:35 PM

This is a Canadian forum so I think most may realize what is happening in Alberta at this time.

Fires are threatening.
Fort McMurray has been evacuated and many of it's homes and businesses burned to the ground.

The fires are still raging out of control and now heading for the oil sands.

The sun was red yesterday, the air is heavily tainted with smoke all over the province, as well as much of Saskatchewan .

I'm in Southern Alberta. We smelled heavy smoke last week, too.

The last that I heard, the fire was still spreading in the north and into Saskatchewan. Hopefully the cooler weather is helping.
May God be with all of the more than 80,000 dislocated people.

Four solid days of rain in Alberta. But apparently it didn't put out the fires in the north/east region for the latest report says the fires are still burning, though rain did help to contain some of the fire.

Interesting -- now the green peace guys want to blame the oil fields for the fire!!! And are making propaganda to get the oil business shut down. The fires were NOT due to the oil fields, but the oil fields were threatened and shut down because of the fire-- causing production to stop and the area to be evacuated. Thousands of people can't work because of the fires. Production has stopped due to the fires.

In this it's a great economic lose to Canada --
Now the green peace guys want to totally shut down the oil industry? Telling a lot of lies that it is the oil fields that are the problem.
It's forests that are burning and fueling the fire, not oil fields --

Then there are the "climate change" people.
They too are making mileage out of the fire.

I hadn't heard that they are trying to blame the fire on the oilfield. Did the tar sands spontaneously combust? LOL

It dovetails nicely with the NDP's announcement of a provincial carbon tax!
That's the last thing we need right now with our massive unemployment.
