Where is the crises with Climate mandates? - 01/15/24 09:41 PM
In Alberta, in areas north of Calgary where it was only -30 decrees C -- we had -40 degree (c) with wind chill close to -50 temperatures this past weekend. Some of our towns rated in the top ten coldest places in the world!
Of course all our natural gas furnaces (most homes here are heated with natural gas) were going almost none stop, so we survived without any issues.
But if the new mandates go into force -- we would be in life threatening danger.
Even with are furnaces using fossil fuel, the demand for electricity caused an Alberta ALERT to sound on all our phones!
The high demand on the electric grid was threatening to cause rotating power outages all over the province! We were asked to please turn off all non-essential electric devises, lights and appliances. Unplug block heater cords to cars, minimize space heaters, delay charging any EV. ....
Well Albertan's responded by turning off lights and appliances, demand on electricity dropped enough so we did not suffer electric outages. After all, when it's 40 below zero, we need electricity even for the Natural Gas furnaces to distribute heat throughout the house. So yes, avoiding an outage was a priority.
NOW
Is it realistic for-- the Premier of Canada to pass legislation to take away Natural Gas and all other fossil fuels and run everything on electricity ??? He's demanding this be done over the next ten years, and all our present carbon resource be shut down.
This past weekend hydro capacity was running full out.
The greater source of that hydro power came from natural gas and coal-fired plants, the ones the Trudeau government is telling the governments to shut down.
Alberta has wind turbines, but most of them were useless over the weekend. Only eight of Alberta?s 45 wind farms were producing any power and that at only about 3% of capacity. Even in favorable conditions they don't come close to producing enough hydro for needs we have now, while we still have natural gas heaters, and gas powered cars.
Electric cars are also rather useless at that temperature.
What would have happened if everyone was totally dependent on electricity to heat their homes and run their cars? Canadian winters can be brutal.
The climate mandates now being pushed make no sense -- except to destroy people's lives, economy, and freedoms.
Why would a government attempt to take away essentials to life with no realistic alternatives.
