I didn't know anything about this - until now. It seems that as the end approaches the enemy is trying to confuse the minds of people. First the lunar Sabbath, now this.

Many of the Lunar Sabbath people claim a daylight only sabbath.

There are Sabbath keepers who start the Sabbath at 6 PM on Fridays until 6 PM on Saturdays. Others who keep it from midnight to midnight.

Is there any reason to go through this again?

This is one doctrine that cannot be proven from the NIV. So, in order to have a proper study, one must first persuade someone to use the KJV. That gets involved.

The fact Jesus didn't inspire someone like Paul to address this shortly after Jesus returned to heaven is evidence it wasn't a problem, that is, observing the weekly Sabbath from sunset to sunset is correct. We use the same logic to help prove the Sabbath wasn't changed to Sunday after Jesus returned to heaven. In other words, the fact no one like Paul wrote anything about it is proof it didn't happen.

I have never had any problem with this question without using the KJV. What is your problem?

Johann,

I'm sure you are well versed in the one major support for how we are to keep Sabbath (hours) in the Bible. Look at that verse in the NIV and then you can tell me why it's flawed. smile

This is one doctrine? What, the 12 hour Sabbath Theory? And it cannot be proven from the NIV but can from the KJV? Good reason not to use the KJV, no?

And they are fully without scriptural support!

When Jesus began His work of creation it was dark. The first day of creation began when it was dark. "And the evening and the morning were the first day." Gen 1:5. The same is true of each day of creation week.

"And the evening and the morning were the second day." Verse 8.
"And the evening and the morning were the third day." Verse 13.
"And the evening and the morning were the fourth day." Verse 19.
"And the evening and the morning were the fifth day." Verse 23.
"And the evening and the morning were the sixth day." Verse 31.

In each case the word "day" includes the dark and light parts of the 24 hour period. However, the account of the seventh day is different:

"And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made. And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made." Gen 2:2-3.

It doesn't conclude with "and the evening and the morning were the seventh day." Are we supposed to deduce Jesus only blessed the light part of the seventh day?

I see no flaw. Where do you see it? Are you using different texts than the Seventh-day Adventist Church is using?
