URGENT PRAYER REQUEST FOR THIS AFTERNOON!

URGENT PRAYER REQUEST FOR THIS AFTERNOON! - 10/21/05 07:22 PM

Hi.

I have been out of work since mid-July. This afternoon,
starting at 3:00 to 4:00 PM EDT (4:00 to 5:00 PM ADT -
a little under 3 hours from now), I have a telephone interview
with Research In Motion (or "RIM"; makers of the Blackberry
wireless PDA). I keenly desire to work for RIM and am confident
that I would be an excellent contributor to their team.

BUT this is only my second phone interview (my first was a
couple of years ago and was a complete failure) and is the very
first time I have ever been in a "panel" interview, with more
than one interviewer at a time. As well, I have partial hearing
loss in both ears, so I am concerned that my ability to hear and
undearstand the interviewers may compromise my success in landing
the position. (My hearing loss often prevents me from hearing
consonant sounds properly and sometimes is a cause for
misunderstanding what was spoken. I can generally get some cues
from watching a speaker's lips, and body language, both of which
will be absent for this interview.)

PLEASE PRAY FOR ME THIS AFTERNOON! My prayer requests are:

- That I will hear and understand the interviewers.
- That I will have good answers to their questions.
- That I will be an excellent match to the position.
- That I get the job!
- That it is also the Lord's desire that I get this job.
- BUT nevertheless, that God's will, not mine, will be
done.

Thank you and God bless you in your ministry.

Ed Pugh.

Ed,

[Thank You & Welcome] First of all, let me welcome you to Maritime SDA OnLine! [Thank You & Welcome]

[Pray] We will be praying for you, especially during that time. [Praying]

By the way, do they know about your hearing handicap? If I remember correctly, they are supposed to provide an alternate face-to-face interview for such people. If you didn't, perhaps it would be a good idea to inform them right at the beginning of the phone interview.

Thanks, Daryl.

I did not know about the "face-to-face" requirement for people with partial hearing loss. I did not ask for a face-to-face interview, and I think that one or two of the interviewers is not in Ottawa anyway. (They have R&D offices in both Ottawa and Waterloo, and I believe that there will be interviewers from both locations. It's a teleconference bridge call that I will be joining.)

I did not think to ask the HR person who set up the interview if I could have the meeting at RIM's Ottawa office, and I did not want to try to change it after the interview was alreay set up (for fear of being pegged "a problem").

I do plan to tell them "up front" at the beginning of the call.

Just over 1 hour and counting, now!

Thanks for the prayers.

God bless,

Ed.

I know Ed Pugh personally.

His telephone conference job interview is about to begin, therefore, please remember him in your prayers during the next hour or so. [Praying]

[Pray] Dear Heavenly Father,

Please be with Ed as he does the phone interview.

Give Ed clarity of hearing.

Help him to understand each question.

Help him to give an appropriate answer to each question.

Help those conducting the interview to speak clearly.

In the name of Jesus Christ I pray,

Amen!!!!! [Praying]

Ed,

I'm sorry that I didn't know about this sooner. I'm not able to get onto the website during the week all that much... My computer time is on Sabbath. So? How did the interview go? I really wish I could have prayed for you during the interview, but I am praying right now for you. God bless you, Ed.

I know how it is to be without work for some time. It's especially hard if you have a family and when you are together all the time, you start to feel like a failure because you can't provide for them. It is all in God's plan for you, though. [Praying]
