The 2003 General Youth Conference opened last evening in Ann Arbor, Michigan with 800 youth from teeny boppers to young adults from around the world in attendance. The conference runs through Sunday morning. This conference isn't your usual run-of-the conference sponsered fun and entertainment package that is the norm today. These are young people who are serious about God, about finishing the work, who are not there to be entertained by CCM, lifeless felt-needs sermons and empowerment pep rallies. Pray that God will pour His multiplied blessings on the attendees and presenters; and flood them with the Holy Spirit in Pentecostal abundance.
Pray that these young people will leave with a true experience they will carry with them and not some emotional high that will fade in a few weeks.
Both my daughter and son are attending along with my prayer partner's oldest son. My daughter reported that there are people there from the Phillipines, Europe, GB, and South Africa. They have 500 in one hotel, and had to put 300 across the street in another hotel. They have to eat breakfast in shifts. I say Praise the Lord!
quote:
With such an army of workers as our youth, rightly trained, might furnish, how soon the message of a crucified, risen, and soon-coming Saviour might be carried to the whole world! How soon might the end come--the end of suffering and sorrow and sin! How soon, in place of a possession here, with its blight of sin and pain, our children might receive their inheritance where "the righteous shall inherit the land, and dwell therein forever;" where "the inhabitant shall not say, I am sick," and "the voice of weeping shall be no more heard." Psalm 37:29; Isaiah 33:24; 65:19. {Ed 271.2}
God is preparing that army. Again I say Praise the Lord!
