“We have been brutally reminded of how fragile our lives are, and how fragile the structures that surround us are,” said Pastor Jan Paulsen, president of the world church. “At this point, with so many questions unanswered, we can only ask for the prayers of every believer around the world, prayers for those who are suffering, for those who have lost loved ones, and for those involved in the rescue efforts.”

“We need our Lord. We desperately need for our Lord to return,” said Paulsen. “He is the only secure future we have.”

Ted N.C. Wilson, a vice president of the world church, reminded employees that, “The Lord is our safety and our salvation.” Wilson called for a sense of calmness, saying, “We must pull together under the power of the Holy Spirit.”

Employees at the Adventist Church world headquarters have been offered the opportunity to leave work to be with family. Those remaining have been offered pastoral support in centers throughout the building, and have been encouraged to gather in departmental groups to pray.

“Please pray for leaders around the world who are making decisions, even as we speak,” said Paulsen. “They need God’s guidance in making the right decisions.”

Acknowledging that the work of the church may, in ways yet unknown, be impacted by the events of the day, leaders at the church headquarters have said that decisions will be made on an hour-by-hour, day-to-day basis, with “our trust placed firmly in the Lord.”

Leaders have been quick to assure church employees and church members around the world, however, that the Adventist Church world headquarters has not been affected. The headquarters is located in Silver Spring, Maryland, around 15 miles from downtown Washington, D.C., site of one of the terrorist attacks. [ANN Staff]

There is a topic about this situation in the Endtime Events Forum where we can contribute our thoughts on this tragic event. Let's remember this situation in prayer, and the many who are injured.

God is still working. The news has just said that there was a convention of surgeons in New York City and they are now lending their expertise to doing triage with the injured. It couldn't have been a co-incident with God that all those surgeons were there when most needed.

We thank You for those who were safely evacuated from the World Trade Center in New York city prior to the second hit on the second tower especially those who had evacuated the very same floors that the second jet crashed into as a result of the other tower being hit.

We ask You that you will help the rescuers find the survivors who are still caught within the rubble of the collapsed buildings.

Thank You for watching over them.

Also, please be with those suffering from the loss of their family and friends and loved ones as a result of all this tragedy, from those in the hijacked planes to those in the targeted buildings in both New York and Washington.

Give the families that are directly connected to this strength and helpas they wait for news.
Be with our leaders and help them not go off half cocked, prevent more deaths of innocent ones, let not our great country stoop to the level of these cowardly murders.
Thank You for those found alive, and by Your grace,may there be even more.
Draw those trapped in the rubble to You, and if they have not made their peace with You, may they do so before it is too late.

I would ask Father that you will be with all those that are helping with this in whatever way they can, the firefighters, doctors, nurses,etc. Give them not only physical strenth to endure the long hours but also emotional and spiritual strength.

Father be with each and everyone of the ones that may still be alive under this mess. We have seen this morning that two firefighters have been brought out alive. This is such an encourgement for the ones searching for others that are still trapped.

Thank you Father for listening and answering our prayers in Jesus name Amen.
