Again, here's the context of her statement: "There was not one trace of selfishness in the life of Christ. All who are laborers together with God will have the same spirit as their Master had. They will be continually growing away from selfishness, and renouncing self-indulgence, even in things that had once appeared innocent to them. {LHU 325.5}
They have the "same spirit" as Jesus had, that is, they have "not one trace of selfishness". They put away "all selfishness" "even in things that had once appeared innocent to them." They "renounce" their former "self-indulgences". And they have also put away "all malice, and all guile, and hypocrisies, and envies, and all evil speakings" (1 Peter 2:1-3).
And, yes, I agree "continually growing away from obesity" means getting thinner. But being obese is not equivalent to "not one trace of selfishness". As believers grow away from "not one trace of selfishness" it clearly cannot involve taking traces of selfishness with them and leaving bits and pieces of it here and there along the way.

I don't see that there's anything to address in #126494. It doesn't seem to me to have to do with the points I raised.
Again, she says "even in things that had one appeared innocent to them." As they continually grow away from selfishness, they continually renounce self-indulgence, even in things that had once appeared innocent to them. It's a growing process (note the use of the word "growing"). As they become aware of things they weren't aware of previously, they take appropriate action. It's a process.
Those who wait for the Bridegroom's coming are to say to the people, "Behold your God." The last rays of merciful light, the last message of mercy to be given to the world, is a revelation of His character of love.

They have the "same spirit" as Jesus had, that is, they have "not one trace of selfishness".
You equated the two. Is that right? It could be, it might not be. I see selfishness, what we are to be continually growing away from, as a condition (for lack of a better word). Are conditions the same as spirits? Could we have the same spirit as Jesus had, and by having that spirit, be continually growing away from our condition?
