Now that the Atlantic hurricane season has started, it's time to batten down the hatches and keep an eye on the sea.
Sometimes we "pull for" hurricanes that have our name on them. My name is Andrew--moniker for the baddest hurricane (financially) the U.S. has ever seen.
The following is a list of other hurricanes that have been so destructive or notorious that they have been officially retired. Is your name among them?

NOTE:
"Carol" was used again to denote a hurricane in the mid-Atlantic Ocean in 1965. However, because the name does not appear after that time, it is assumed that the name was retired retrospectively for the damages caused by the 1954 storm of the same name.
Some of the most deadly and costly storms occurred before hurricanes were named and are not reflected in the list.
