I think I've read it. I've at least skimmed it, although it's been some time. Vendon's theology is pretty typically evangelical. He differs with traditional Adventism on the point of Christology, which we're already discussing on another thread.
He does have some positive points, however, which are worth mentioning. For one thing, he presents a generally upbeat view, and he holds to the idea that's it's easier to be saved then it is to be lost.

Now that Ive know the Seventh Day Adventist for some time and gotten a little more mature... I realize more and more what a real shame it is that we think we need to go read the writings of men who people put on a pedestal... when all the while we have our Bibles and we have the Spirit of Prophecy right there for us to read. We have the Holy Spirit whom God has promised would lead us into all truth.
Ellen White warned that error is never harmless and that Satan starts with little entering wedges and before long, those with discernment realize that these seemingly "little" errors have led off into a wide divergence from the real truth.
We dont need to wade through a bunch of "bits of truth" that have been mixed in with errors, and just hope to come out unscathed. Sister White also said that Satan mixes in just enough truth with error to make it palatable.

God has dispersed light through many sources. The Spirit of Prophesy tells us that God would continue to shed light as long as time would last, and that she was not the end of the light that God had. We know, for example, from her that Jones and Waggoner's message was "the beginning of the latter raise" from which the implication is that the rest of it will come at some time. We need to be ready to receive the light that God has for us, in whatever vehicle He chooses to use.

Claudia has a good point, actually. There are heaps of "fluffy" and "feel good" SDA writers around; go take a look at yout dusty church libraries and see how often even the important writers are checked out and read!
However, Tom points us to the root: "If the SOP encourages us to read certain authors, we should."
