The news wire has just reported that the pill Zyban could help even some of the most hardcore smokers according to credible new research. I got this from the ABC News web site.

According to the article, a study found that the chance for quitting doubles when Zyban is taken.

I've heard somewhere that Zyban was invented by Adventists at Loma Linda. Is this true?

I did get on to Loma Linda's web site. It turned out to be very confusing. I ended up taking a trip on their spiritual links and "hitting" some very interesting churches.

Alas, no luck with the Zyban. I'm usually very good at finding these things out on my own. Well, maybe I'll have to look harder.

One local "interest" quit smoking with Zyban and a 5-Day Plan video I supplied him. He said that several people in the place he works have stopped smoking by using Zyban too. I recall the Review making some referrence in a back issue about Zyban's Adventist roots. I'll look further.

I received help from a doctor named "Gary" in another forum. He said that Zyban was a already well-known anti-depressant drug.

Someone did reasearch at LLU on using it to help depressed smokers quit. Nicotine, apparently, is the strongest anti-depressant that there is. If it is substituted with the non-addictive Zyban, the underlying depression is treated and the need to get Nicotine from smoking is lessened.

Zyban is just another name for the antidepressant Welbutrin which has been around for years. It's effacy in smoking cessation was discovered at Loma Linda 2-3 years ago and is marketed for that purpose under the Zyban name.
