Mr. Russell sat sprawled across Dr. Mitchell's desk bleeding from the nose and mouth. His surgeon had given him two months to live. He half sat, half laid there; crying. "I felt like crying too," Dr. Mitchell told me, as he related the incident. "The radiation and chemotherapy had caused him to bleed from the nose, mouth, and rectum. He was in a lot of pain." The cancer had blocked his colon, and metastasis permeated to the liver and kidneys. Surgery had unblocked the colon so that he could function for a while, but really, medical science gave him little hope.
"I can't treat you any more," the surgeon had told him. He let him know that he need not come back to see him. He could just go home and die in peace. No wonder he was crying.
"My father has colon cancer," his son said. Then came the question from the trembling lips of a man who was being murdered from the inside. "Can you help me?"
From his busy schedule as a minister, his son, Pastor Russell, had brought his dad to a doctor whom he had only heard of by word of mouth. What butterflies were in his stomach as he drove through the busy traffic to the office in Orlando's east side! What groans and prayers were going through his own bosom as he talked with the doctor; as he looked down at that dear one in the chair; dying! "Will you do exactly what I tell you," Dr. Mitchell asked? "III do anything," came the sob.
"Will you promise me that you won't tell your Doctor?"
"Yes.
There were good reasons for this last question. Number one, it's not "ethical" for one doctor to take over treatment from another unless the patient is referred. There was no referral. The surgeon had told him that he need not return; but, just the same - no referral. In the final days, just before the end, a visiting nurse may have come to try to help the helpless, teach the family good sanitation and make sure the right pills were given. These angels of mercy bring relief of pain, and sunshine into the homes of millions. But as far as the head echelon of medicine at the hospital was concerned. he was given up to die. Also, Mr. Russell was in his upper seventies. A younger man may have been treated longer. However, the main reason Dr. Mitchell asked the question is that what he was about to do for the poor man was unethical as far as the A.M.A. and the State Medical Board were concerned. He could lose his license! Though modern medicine had given up on Mr. Russell, if a medical doctor used "unusual" procedures to try to save him - he would be "out." Whimsical treatments; diet, or natural remedies, used by a professional, instead of the "accepted drugs," would be a bad example for the other M.D.s as well as a mockery to the profession. Thus the question, "Will you promise not to tell your doctor?"
First, let me tell you what happened to Mr. Russell. Next, I'll reveal to you what many are dying to know - the treatment he gave him. Then, III tell you something about Dr. Mitchell that might make your eyes pop open. The doctor gave him the treatment program, told him to go home, and return in one week. He would return once a week for three months. Mr. Russell went home and returned the next week.
He came into Dr. Mitchell's office, grabbed and hugged him. "I feel different!" he said.
"His pain is gone," Dr. Mitchell said. "No depression. He was smiling." Every week he came back. At the end of three months Mr. Russell went to see his surgeon.
"Here I am," he said, walking into his office. "You're still alive!" the surgeon blurted out. He admitted him into the hospital, giving him the usual tests - colonoscope, scanning x-rays, etc. No cancer seen.
"I can't believe this," the surgeon bleated. "I'm going to cut you open.
"Go right ahead," Mr. Russell said.
Concerning proof - the more the better. He was admitted that day. The next morning he was cut open. The colon, liver, kidneys, and surrounding areas were checked. No cancer. The unconscious Mr. Russell was wheeled into the recovery room. After he was in his own room, and alert, the surgeon came in to give the news and talk with him before discharge. No cancer was found.
"It's just a coincidence," the surgeon said before releasing him to go home. "Just a coincidence!"
What had Dr. Mitchell given him? What had he told him to do each day? And what had he given the other twenty-four people who were still alive? Twenty four others had also been dying from cancer.
The following account given to me from Dr. Mitchell, in his home, is the program which he gave to Mr. Russell and in general, to the other twenty-four individuals.
The first week, Dr. Mitchell told him to eat nothing but juice and distilled water. The kind of juice, and when it was taken, was very important. Only freshly juiced fruits and vegetables were to be used. Nothing canned or frozen. Only fresh carrots, celery, spinach, lemons, apples, grapes, and a goodly variety of other vegetables and fruit juices. Only distilled water was to be used.
Every half hour during each of the following seven days, the patient was to drink. He would eat nothing. Upon awakening, he was to take four ounces of carrot juice; a half hour later, four ounces of distilled water; a half hour later, four ounces of lemon water; half hour later, four ounces of distilled water, etc.... All day, during his waking hours, for seven days, this was to be continued. He was given freedom to choose the kind of juices he drank, except that he was to have at least 30 ounces of carrot juice each day. If water was added to the juices, it was to be distilled water. Water on the outside of his body was to be used also in showers two or three times per day. A little salt could be put in the celery juice since he wasn't a diabetic, but no sugar in anything. A little honey could be put in the lemon water. Between drinking, the patient was to get a little exercise as he was able - walking - in the sunshine, breathing deeply now and then. The body is a masterpiece of God's creation. Made of muscle, bone, blood, and breath, it is built for performance. Many rust out from lack of exercise. Mr. Russell's health depended on it even while fighting cancer. While exercising, he received a dose of something else that is vital to life - fresh air.
His mental outlook was very important. Dr. Mitchell told him to play hymns all day long in the background, (not jazzy hymns, or rock music with religious words, but uplifting, holy hymns by which to praise God). He was not to allow any negative thoughts of past, present, or future to stay in his mind. He was to think happy, thankful thoughts. He was to educate his mind and lips to speak God's praise - continually!
Doing this was very important for several reasons. One, the above frame of mind is restful. Rest is one of the vital factors of health. Rest of body, rest of mind, rest of spirit were needed. Mr. Russell was to receive adequate time for sleep, but that wasn't all. By developing an attitude of constant praise to God for His blessings, he received rest of mind and spirit. Two; this training his mind to constant praise developed in him faith - trust; trust in Divine power to heal him. Dr. Mitchell told me that he doesn't take credit for healing Mr. Russell, or any of the Twenty four people. He told me that he knows that God did it. The doctor said, "Always smile and pray." Prayer. Constant prayer with thanksgiving, is what would draw Mr. Russell close to God. He must be willing to fully trust and obey God. Mr. Russell's will must be totally surrendered to his Creator, for His will to be done.
Walking outside also gave Mr. Russell sunshine. Sunshine, an element of healing and life. Not too much - but just enough as he walked each day. Some authorities say that light controls more of our body functions than anything else except food. It dilates blood vessels, increases circulation; ridding the body of toxins.
From the very first week, Dr. Mitchell started giving Mr. Russell vitamins and minerals. Each day he gave him:
400 international units of vitamin D: 25,000 international units of vitamin A: (This would be too much for the normal, healthy person). 1400 mg./day of calcium: 1000 mg./ day of magnesium.
Beginning the second week, he was to start eating solid food - soft at first. Apples, bananas, grapefruit, whole wheat bread, cereals, etc. - a large variety of fruits, whole grains, and vegetables, was what he suggested. Dr. Mitchell said that he prescribed two meals a day. No more - and nothing between meals, except distilled water. Mr. Russell would begin eating two meals a day - a vegetarian diet with no meat, no fish, no chicken, no lard, no grease, no tobacco, no alcohol, no cola drinks, no coffee, no tea, no refined flour, and no sugar. The doctor had him take a coffee enema each day, at least for the first week to help clean out his colon.
Dr. Mitchell told me that in essence what he gave to Mr. Russell, as well as the others, was a scientific application of the eight natural remedies as given to Seventh-day Adventists by God through His modern day prophet, Ellen G. White. They are: I) Diet - vegetarian. 2) Exercise. 3) Fresh Air. 4) Abstemiousness - (to stay away from habits which destroy health such as eating and sleeping at irregular times, tobacco, caffeine, meat - with it's saturated fat and cancer virus, refined sugar, refined flour, alcohol, harmful drugs). 5) Sunshine. 6) Rest - each day, and each week on God's seventy-day Sabbath of His Fourth Commandment. 7) Pure Water. 8) Trust in Divine Power.
He told me that at the end of the treatment, all of his patients "were vegetarians." He said,"l told them that if they want to get cancer again, to go back to the way they were eating before.
Poor Mr. Russell did go back to his old way, according to Dr. Mitchell. And he did get cancer again! Unbelievable! I've never seen this happen before. Dr. Mitchell told me about it. I called Mr. Russell on the phone. Sure enough, he said he got it again about six months ago. This time lung cancer. The doctor wanted to give him the chemotherapy and radiation again.
"No thanks", he said. He went back to the diet, and - and - there's no way is there?
I said to Mr. Russell, "You weren't cured of cancer the second time were you?"
"I sure was", he said triumphantly. He went on praising and giving glory to God. I don't think that anyone has ever experienced it twice and lived. Mr. Russell is now eighty-four.
It seems almost like a fairy-tale doesn't it? Why then has the state medical board forbid Dr. Mitchell to treat any more cancer patients? Of all horrors. It happened!
"I was in my office one day", Dr. Mitchell related to me, "when in walked a medical board investigator and commanded me not to treat any more cancer patients. He told me that my case was to be under examination and that my license may be taken away."
That was no fairy-tale. "What happened?" I asked.
First let me say that Dr. Mitchell doesn't take credit for curing any patients with cancer. He gives the credit only to God. Satan can produce a counterfeit with religious crooks, but God's ways are genuine, and in harmony with His laws of health.
"As many as eleven Cancer patients a day used to come to my office," he told me. "When someone is cured of cancer, people start talking and you don't have to advertise anything. They just come from all over the country, and other countries.
Dr. Mitchell doesn't openly treat cancer patients anymore. He has been forbidden to do it. If he did, his license would be taken away. Here's why.
A man came to Dr. Mitchell eaten up with lung cancer. He knew that he was dying. The doctor gave him the treatment procedure and told him that he must quit smoking. He didn't quit smoking. He died. The man's son went to a lawyer to sue Dr. Mitchell for killing his father. The lawyer wouldn't take the case. He went to the second. He wouldn't take it. He went to the third. He wouldn't take the case to sue him, but told him that if he wanted to hurt him, he knew how. How?
Get a couple of doctors, and together, make a complaint to the state medical board. That would hurt him. The board controls. It gives licenses and takes away licenses. Do you believe that? The man did what the lawyer suggested.
So in walks the medical board investigator, and forbids Dr. Mitchell to treat cancer patients. They examined his case that December.
Dr. Mitchell told me about it and said, "Would you please pray for me? I'm on probation now and they might take my license away.
"Yes, I will pray," I said. And I did. That experience drove dear Dr. Mitchell closer to God than ever in his life. In fact, it changed his life.
"If we trust in Christ, we abide in Christ. The blow that is aimed at us falls upon the Savior, Who surrounds us with His presence. Nothing can touch us without our Lord's permission." When you're in big trouble, remember that, and it will help you to have peace. Before his case was examined in December, Dr. Mitchell told me, "I've decided to put my practice and my home up for sale, move to some property in the mountains, and set up a health conditioning center. We will build cottages for the people to stay in. We will treat cancer patients and those with heart diseases, arthritis, and diabetes, and we will charge them nothing. We'll work on a donation basis. We will keep no records. We'll charge no money. When the A.M.A. comes and asks about the patients we've been treating, we'll say, "We don't have any patients. We just have guests." When they ask to see our records, we'll say, "We don't have any records." If I lose my license I'm going to do it, and if I don't lose my license I'm still going to do it." "Praise God," I said.
"They had me on probation for four and a half years," he told me. "I proved to them that the man's son and the other two doctors were lying. I didn't lose my license. My probation is over now, but I still cannot treat any cancer patients with the program that I have or they would take my license away. Concerning the natural remedies, other doctors say, this is nonsense."
"Does this treatment program work for any type of cancer?" I asked.
"Yes," he said. "it works for heart disease and high blood pressure also. God does the healing. If a person does not follow the program exactly, it doesn't work." "What about other cancer patients?" I asked.
"I can't treat them now, but there was a lady from the Washington D.C. area who somehow was connected with the Cancer Association. She got cancer, but was ashamed to tell that organization that she had it. So she came down here and asked if I would treat her. She asked me not to tell anyone that I was treating her. I knew that it would be safe for me to treat her because she was not going to tell anyone that I was treating her and didn't want me to tell anyone. She was healed."
At the present, Dr. Mitchell's hands are tied as far as treating cancer patients is concerned. But as of now, he's found some property, and is moving toward his goal. May God help him.
Since God healed these people, as Dr. Mitchell admits, why doesn't He heal everyone? Why have My treatments at ail?
If there are certain conditions to which God heals people, what are they? Why are some healed and some not healed - even good people, when evil men many times are strong? Let's look at these, and other questions and see what we find.
First we need to understand the principles behind health and life.
No one needs to be told that the world is sick. God, the great Creator has given health and set up laws of health. To obey these laws of health is to have health.
Then why is there sickness and death? Satan, God's enemy, who rebelled in heaven itself, has tricked men and women into disobeying God's laws of health. He knows that the result is sickness and death - but many of us humans don't know. We inherit some weaknesses and various ailments through heredity. This is the result of sin from our ancestors. But the worst problems usually come to people from their own bad habits and violations of the laws of health. These laws always work - like the law of gravity.
If an atheist and a Christian both fell off the top of a building, which one will hit the ground? They both will, unless they hit something first. The laws of health are no different. Many violate them from ignorance. But they get sick and die just the same. It behooves us to become intelligent concerning these laws that regulate our bodies. Shocking but true, most violate the laws of health - and know better! Do you believe that? Then, some of them even dare blame God that they have lost their health, and are reaping the consequences of their bad habits. Millions die in this condition.
One day, I asked a doctor in the cafeteria of a hospital if he could tell me if there was one or two main causes of most of the people being patients there. I was amazed at what he said.
"If people here would quit smoking and drinking, nine tenths of these patients wouldn't be here", he said. My mouth fell open, I could hardly believe it. I believe it now.
Yes, most people know better than they do. They have no one to blame but themselves. Why, I know a man in my town right now who has a terrible heart condition. He has high blood pressure, coughs, continually, is as fat as a tick and lights one cigarette from the other. I love him. I've pleaded with him to quit smoking. I've offered to help him. I've offered to help him lose weight. I've done everything I know. He wheezes and coughs so hard that he turns red. Then he lights up another cigarette. I even told him that he was going to die if he continued, and that God couldn't help him. He said that he believes that everyone dies when it's their time. I said, "You can die before your time." He knows that I love him. That's why I could talk to him as I did. We're good friends. It grieves me to see people killing themselves with their lust for appetite. It grieves the heart of God.
It isn't the Savior's purpose that people are weighed down with the burden of pain, and that their lives should be cut short by disease. But many times, the laws given by God are broken on purpose, sin enters the heart, and man loses sight of his dependence on God. Then come the sure results - pain, sickness, and death. Satan wants it this way. Then he tries to get the people to put the blame on our kind Heavenly Father. How sad.
Here and now, I'm telling you that it doesn't have to be this way. Before you finish reading this, you'll see that God cares for you. You'll see that He wants you to be happy, healthy; to live and not die - and you can be. Even if you are in a wheelchair, or dying of some incurable disease right now, you'll see that if you will look by faith to the lovely Jesus, who died on the cross of Calvary for you, peace and joy will flood your heart, knowing that He takes away all of your sins. You'll rest in His love, knowing that either now, or later, or in the resurrection - you will be healed. You and I don't deserve it. But it's true, because He loves you; because He died - for you. Then, start to obey God's wonderful health laws, and all of His requirements, as you learn what they are. And you will receive strength from Him. Then you will be truly free. You will not be a slave to sin and Satan anymore. As you read, you will see the marvelous love of Jesus for you. As you see Him hanging on the cross suffering the wrath of God for your sins; as you see blood running down His face, and see those quivering lips, you'll know that your sins murdered the son of God! You'll know that He's hanging there in your place - and because of His great love for you to die in your place, you can live.
Knowing what He's done for you, and will do, will you surrender all to Him? Even now? You'll be so happy that you did. Soon your lifestyle is going to change.
"What do you mean", you say)I. Soon, the "mark of the beast" is going to be enforced right in this country, and then around the world. It will be very popular to go along with the crowd and receive this mark so that you can buy and sell, and keep your home. This law will be passed by the U.S. legislature. If you don't go along with it, you will lose your job, your home, and be looked upon as a criminal. God reveals these things to us in the book of Revelation - the very book that God's enemy is scared to death that we will study. If you go along with this law, you will be disobeying one of God's commandments in order to obey the commandments of men, and you will receive the "mark of the beast", and end up in the lake of fire. That's a test! It's earth's final test. Soon we'll enter test week". Where will you stand? Where will I? The reason why our health is so important to us and to our dear Heavenly Father is that in order to have the physical, mental and moral strength to bear up under the "pressure", and not receive "the mark of the beast", we will need to be in the best possible health. If we aren't, and this terrible ordeal comes, we will cave in to the pressure which will be all around us. God gives us warning. His great heart of love goes out to us now - down here in the end of time. Friend, He loves you.
Make a full surrender to the lovely Jesus - Whom you will soon see with your own eyes. He will come in the clouds with billions of angels. His people who have suffered the loss of all things for Him, will be caught up in the clouds to meet Him in the air. I Thes. 4:16, 17. Oh yes, soon your lifestyle will change. The choices you make now will make all the difference as to how it will be with you - forever. Now's the time to fill our minds with the word of the living God more than the T.V. set. Now 's the time to spend much time in prayer - talking to our Father and the lovely Jesus - getting to know Him as our best friend and personal Savior, to fall in love with Him so that we would rather die than hurt Him anymore - who died on the cross of Calvary for us. Yes, your salvation is a free gift of His grace. Believe in His love for you, in His blood which covers you; trust His tender heart of love to save you - and it is so - not because you are worthy, or because you feel it, but because He says so. God's eight natural remedies that He gave to His people to help them not to get sick in the first place, and which God uses to help the sick get well are beautiful. They cannot be improved upon. To obey them is health and happiness, even in this evil generation. To disobey them leads to death. They have been given by God Himself in His testimonies. They will help a person stand through the crisis just ahead of us. With a clear mind, a strong body, a cheerful heart - obeying the health laws of the Almighty God - you will stand.
Here they are again.
1) Diet
Fruits, vegetables, whole grains, anything good that grows out of the ground that God has made. The diet God gave to man in the beginning, and the diet which man will have in His new kingdom - without the carcasses of dead animals; or refined sugar, or refined flour, which are depleted of nutrients and lead to disease.
2) Exercise
Daily - walking is the best all-around.
3) Pure Water
Inside and out - we need plenty.
4) Rest Physical, mental, and spiritual.
See Matt. 11:28 - 30 and Ex. 20:8 - 11.
5) Fresh Air
Outdoors, in the house, and even in our room where we sleep.
6) Sunshine
Not too much, but the right amount, we need for health and happiness.
7) Abstemiousness
This means to stay away from any habit that would harm you; any food, liquid, or gas that would hurt you. (Cigarette smoke is a mixture of air-(good gasses), and (poisonous gasses) and smoke [which is an aerosolized mixture of gasses and burnt poisonous compounds and ashes.] That is what is meant by gas. Vapor that you breathe whether you can see it or not. Clean air is healthy, smoke and fumes and intoxicating gasses are deadly. Even if it is slow to sicken and kill, or if it is fast. Abstemiousness also means do not over do the good stuff. Eating too often or too much is not healthy even when it was the best food to eat.
8) Trust in Divine Power
It brings rest of mind, power to obey God, peace of mind as you know that God has forgiven your sins, and sweet sleep at night. It comes to you the more you study God's word, talk to Him in prayer, and share His love with others. It's possessor is kind to others, humble and unselfish. He walks and talks ail day with the lovely Jesus. For such a person, heaven has already begun, for he has heaven in his heart.
