Healthy Diet May Mean Fewer Wrinkles
The fountain of youth may be in the grocery produce section.
Fruits and vegetables may keep wrinkles away, says the Mayo Clinic Women's HealthSource news letter. More than 400 people age 70 or older took part in a study that found those who ate a diet rich in green leafy vegetables, beans, olive oil, nuts and multigrain breads and skipped butter, red meat and sugary goodies, were less susceptible to wrinkling.
Participants lived in Australia, Sweden and Greece.
It made no difference whether people were fair-skinned or dark-skinned.
Researchers speculate the high level of antioxidant vitamins in a healthy diet may help save skin from environmental damage.
