quote:
2 Corinthians 5:18 And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation;
What does ministry of reconciliation mean in the above quoted text?

Scriptural reference correction only as was brought to my attention in subsequent posts. - Daryl [ July 20, 2004, 10:16 AM: Message edited by: Daryl Fawcett ]

Hi Daryl, It should be 2 Corinthians God brings us back to himself (reconciles us) by blotting out our sins and making us right with him. When we trust in Christ, we are no longer God’s enemies, or strangers or foreigners to him. Because we have been reconciled to God, we have the privilege of encouraging others to do the same, and thus we are those who have “the task of reconciling people to him.” Shelley

Yes, it is 2 Corinthians and not 1 Corinthians. I will correct that there right now.

Yep, we're given the job of helping others to be reconciled as well; just two verses later, Paul says "we are ambassadors for Christ." 2 Corinthians 5:20.
