I did for him what I would not have done for myself. i bought the meds & got him in his house & if i remember right took him some food & drink from my own amount of supplies.
My concept was that he was in need, need that incapacitated him from careing for nimself in his situation. My abilities to help on Sabbath were the shewbread, his need was real & I made it possible for him to "eat" the shewbread under circumstances that otherwise would have not occured.
David was allowed to eat the shewbread because of his physical need, otherwise he would have been punished for his presumption.
