Praise God for His continual care over us. I am sure there have been many times where God has sent Angels to watch over us that we will not know about until we get to Heaven. But I know of two times where God has watched over me..one 20.5 yrs. ago which brought to Jesus...and yesterday.
Fridays and Sabbath are my days off...but sometimes I try to work on Fridays for the overtime...need it to just survive. But this Thursday night I unplugged my phone in my bedroom so even the answering machine would not work, as I just felt the need to have the day off. I work swing shift Mon-Thurs..and a day shift on Sunday.
Well about 8:30am I decided that no one was going to call by that time..they always ask me to come in for a day shift on Friday because of the Sabbath on Friday. The day shift supervisor's mother was a SDA and he has always been sympatic towards my Sundown hours on Friday...very watchful for me about that over the years. Well the phone rang about 30 minutes later. Yes it was them! They had two calls offs on the swing shift and wanted me to do one. And before I could say anything the Control Officer said they would have me a relief by 7:30 pm so I could get home by sundown..I could hear the supervisor telling the Control Officer to tell me that. I was about to say NO..because I did not want to take the chance of the Sabbath hours and being stuck there...but I said yes.
The post was on the side I never work anymore as they have cut the posts...only have 4 officers on that side now. It was a lobby like post where I was at the front of the building...our Rover (gives us breaks) had to come and go in the parking lot alot. I have not worked with this person for awhile as he got himself in trouble and was banished to the South Side as we call it. I work the North Side. I praise God for him being so observant. He had his car parked next to my car. He came in and said to me "Avalee have you looked at your right front tire? It is about to blow?" I of course go running out there and I was just shocked. There was two long rips in the tire and it was going bald. I never go on that side of the car. I do kinda look at my tires on driver side but not on that side.(shame on me eh?)
I called my Triple AAA out and they put my doughnut on it...and he confirms that most likely the next time I got it up to some speed on the freeway it would have blowed and I would have been in a mess.
When I got home I looked at the tire that they took off and it was worse than I thought as first..the other side was coming all apart also.
I was not able to go to church today as everyone said I should not drive very far on a doughnut. Did not get home in time to get a new tire last night.
I want to Praise my Heavenly Father for His wonderful protection of me. I guess the tire has been this way for awhile. I do not have the money to fix things and I just ignorned the warning signs. When I would get the car up to 65 MPH it would start to kinda shake for a couple of weeks now. I was going to see about it next week....maybe. Here is the wonderful thing. If I had not been called into work....and if I had not been given a post on the South Side where John works...well I would have gotten up this morning and my 80 yr. old friend and I would have gone to church on that bad tire that was about to blow. I praise God for taking care of us.
In The Blessed Hope
