In one of the reports I read about the recent earthquake in India, I heard that it was felt throughout the Indian subcontinent. Even those near Sri Lanka, on the south-eastern side of India felt the shaking. This part of the world holds over 1 Billion people. There are between 6 and 7 Billion people on our planet. I also read about the tremendous psychological effect that an earthquake has on people. This means 1 out of every 6 people has "felt the fear" in just the past few days. That's not to mention those in Central America--one of whom came back to Chatham and reported quite a few sleepless nights since her ordeal down there--not even trusting the ground in "safe" Southern Ontario!
A few Sabbaths ago I recited Matthew 23 and Luke 21 by memory. Surely "men's hearts are fainting with fear at the fate they see coming on the earth."

Don't let yesterday's mistakes trouble you, nor tomorrow's fears spoil your day.
