Hello Brothers and Sister:
I'd like to suggest starting a series of threads, like a data base of anyone who would like to start industries. I have several ideas, and I'd like to work with other SDA's who have the knowledge and interest in creating industries that are dedicated to advancing the gospel. We have ASI, and that organization has done a lot of good. I'm wondering though if we can also use this forum as a contact and sharing point for those who would like to incubate a business.
Maybe we could start by creating a thread that allows members who are interested to list their name address, business interest, background, and the kind of venture they want to start or have begun.
For example, in Ontario, we have lost our only hospital, the only one in Canada actually. We are the largest conference I think in Canada, but have no health institution along the lines set out in the SOP. Can we find out who is interested in this area and in North America in starting something. Who is a financier, a doctor, a manager, etc? that's willing to see what can be done.
Another example: I'd like to show the world that Sabbath keepers can be at the forefront of technology. I have plans that have the basic elements for a VTOL aircraft. It would be inexpensive for an RC hobbiest to build a prototype. I know this because I've built a couple models. But I personally don't have the time to finish the VTOL. If anyone is interested who has the talent - not necessarily the experience - I'll ship him my material, do the consultation and legally protect the end design, at least to the point to prevent someone else from patenting the idea. (Probably by registering the plan under the Document Disclosure program with the US Patent office.)
What do you think Daryl. Would you mind if we open threads here for say health professionals who are interested in starting sanitariums in any part of Canada to post their credentials, another for technicians and engineers who would like to branch out on their own, possibly with other like minded SDA's, and other threads as needed for different catigories of occupations.

I don't have any problem with what you are proposing to do, however, wouldn't the Tools & Technology forum be a better forum, or should we rename this forum somewhat to better fit with your ideas?

I don't see a Tools and Technology forum on MSDAOL so if it is already created, would it be hidden? Regardless, I think you're right that a separate forum is probably a better way to deal with this. We may need to make some changes to the format as we go, but its hard to predict how it will pan out until we try it. Thanks very much for your support.
BTW, it might be good to advertise this and ask for input from members with computer know how on what options are available down the road if there is enough participation to create a versitile data base that members can tap into and modify. This kind of input might be helpful to choose an initial format that is as data base compatible as possible early on.
Also, before we start, if anyone else has thoughts on the best way to go about this, please let me know. The idea is to put together like minded people, and of course, these engagements will not always work out. But if everyone involved does so with their eyes open and on the understanding that the forum is only a facilitator, I think a lot of good can be done. Where dedicated people are at work, the whole is greater than the sum of the parts.
