Too many times we may think we are the ones in charge; or perhaps we can do it all.
This devotion page came to my e-mail box this morning and I just had to share it.
It really says it all.

I'm Holding You

He will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your
ways; they will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike
your foot against a stone. Ps. 91:11, 12, NIV.

There are exactly 60 marble steps leading up to the capitol building in
Havana, Cuba-and no handicap access. Our small tour group included
Rhodes and her 6 year old handicapped son, Haniel. I marveled at how
willingly she lifted him from his wheelchair and carried him up the
four levels as two friends carried the wheelchair to the top.

After we had toured the various beautiful halls and thanked the guard,
we prepared to return to the car. Rhodes picked Haniel up in her arms
and hesitated for just a moment before slowly starting down. I thought
I detected a hint of fear in her eyes. I stayed close to her elbow in
case she should stumble, but I knew that if she should fall there was
probably nothing at all I would be able to do to prevent a tragedy. I
watched as she carefully descended each step. Thankfully, no misstep
happened, and we all reached the plaza safely. Then Rhodes asked
Maribel, our translator, to tell something to the two of us who didn't
speak Spanish.

"On the way down I told Haniel that I was afraid," she said. "But he
told me, 'Don't be afraid, Mama. I'm holding you.'"
We all laughed at the simple faith and naïveté he showed. But it gave
me something to think about. In life's ups and downs through
danger-danger beyond my understanding-do I think I am responsible for
my own safety? Perhaps friends or family are holding me up, but I take
credit. Or it may be that God is carrying me, and I think I can do it
myself. "Don't worry about me, God; I'm holding You."

Every day I trust my safety to my driving ability, to the structural
safety of the buildings in which I find myself, or even to the skills
of an airplane crew. I place my welfare in the hands of other humans
who may or may not care about me. How much better it would be to look
to Jesus, my real source of safety and security.

Lord, I may be hanging on for dear life, but help me to depend totally
on You. You hold me up, please. I trust You to get me through safely.
