While patrolling in Northern England, a police officer heard the sobbing of a small child.
Turning in the direction the sound was coming from, he espied a small boy, tears coursing down his cheeks. Seeing the officer, he said"I'm lost mister, can you help me foind my home?"

The officer sat down beside him and asked'Do you know your address?" The little boy shook his head no.
The officer began naming streets in the hope he would recognize one.
But the little boy only sat there shaking his head no.The officer repeated the names of shops and businesses, all to no avail. Then he remembered that in the cener of the city was a well known church with a very tall steeple, and atop that steeple stood a cross.
Pointing to the cross (which could be seen from any point in the town) he asked the little boy if he knew it.
"Oh yes," said the little boy,"take me to the cross, I can find my way home from there."

The cross still remains the starting place in the journey home for God's children.
