In Memory Of My Cat "Prince"

This is a picture of my cat, Prince, who had to be put asleep on account of a rare form of cancer in his mouth. We, my wife and I, cared for our Prince until the time came when food and water could no longer be fed to him. He was my special pet. Even after a little over 3 years since he died on September 9, 1997, I still miss him very much. His 2 brothers are still with us. They will be 17 in February, 2001. Death of our loved ones, including our pets, is the sad result of sin. The first animal(s) was(were) killed to provide clothing to Adam and Eve after they sinned. Everything changed, including the animals. I will be so happy when sin, death and sorrow will be no more, and our pets will live along with us forever. I also pray that our pets will have a special resurrection and be reunited with us to live with us forever. What about you. Do you have a special pet to share with us in this forum? __________________________ In His Love, Mercy & Grace Daryl [This message has been edited by Daryl Fawcett (edited November 20, 2000).]

Daryl I wish I could find hope for you, but I can not find evidence that animals are ever resurrected. I am sorry, Prince was a beautiful looking cat. However God, Who could have given Adam a new wife & raised Isaac from the dead as Abraham conjectured, will not leave you comfortless in this matter. He can give you a new "Prince" a new cat to name & love, that is living in New Jerusalem now. There will be plenty of room in a perfect world and time without end. Ecclesiastes 3: 18 I said in mine heart concerning the estate of the sons of men, that God might manifest them, and that they might see that they themselves are beasts. 19 For that which befalleth the sons of men befalleth beasts; even one thing befalleth them: as the one dieth, so dieth the other; yea, they have all one breath; so that a man hath no preeminence above a beast: for all is vanity. 20 All go unto one place; all are of the dust, and all turn to dust again. 21 Who knoweth the spirit of man that goeth upward, and the spirit of the beast that goeth downward to the earth? Perhaps this "Prince" could be a snow tiger/leopard of antediluvian size. Bigggg loving affectionate kitty. DEEEEEPP singsong humming PURR & rough tongue, definitely no sharpening the claws on the furniture . A cat that eats plant materials. Perhaps no sharp claws/teeth needed? ------------------ Edward F Sutton [This message has been edited by Edward F Sutton (edited November 21, 2000).] [This message has been edited by Cathy Sears (edited November 21, 2000).]

Here's my carefully though-out theological (although maybe not Biblical--but then again, casting lots is Biblical, but a bad idea, nonetheless) answer: God trancends time. He can surely go back, "fetch" Prince and bring him to Daryl. They will surely recognize each other. I'm sure that Prince will thrive in the environment of the New Earth. Unfortunately there's no hope for people like me who had dogs for pets. Ephesians 5:27 makes it quite clear that the "Bride" that inherits the New Jerusalem (saved ones) shall be "Without Spot." ------------------ As the Happy Moments Roll, Pastor Andrew

Hi Can I ask a question? How in the world can one person, like Ed, edit a message and then Cathy edits the same message? You mean someone else can go around editing our messages?

Thanks Linda and Daryl.. I was just worried that someone could come along and change what you said so that what you really said wasnt something you really said LOL anyway Id like to share a story about my kitty, Maggie Mae. She just came wandering up to our house one night. I got to where I loved her very much and she was my favorite kitty. Then one day Maggie Mae got really sick. The doctor said she would die for sure and that it was probably caused by someone having poisoned her some time in the past when you used to be an "outside kitty," before she came to live with us. So anyway she wouldnt eat anymore or drink. She was withering away to nothing, skin and bones, she looked like "death". I started praying about Maggie Mae and then I remembered Ellen White talking about the use of charcoal. I got some powdered charcoal and some baby food, meat... I started forcing her to eat it by the spoonful, a certain amount each day, mixed with the charcoal. And feeding her water with an eye dropper. She suddenly got better and better and was perfectly healed. The Vet couldnt believe it. She went back then to being like she always had been, a trouble-making kitty who liked to cause havoc and run around the house acting silly. Her nick name is "Maggie Mahem" (instead of her real name, Maggie Mae) because she likes to start trouble and mahem wherever she goes LOL! Im happy God helped me make Maggie all better. Claudia

Daryl, I am looking forward to your story about Silver. I wish I could put a picture of Maggie Mae on here but I dont know how. My husband does all my web page stuff for me as far as putting it on the computer. I have a picture of her. I used to have a kitty that looked just like your cat Prince, his name is Snowman... to go along with the whiteness of him Cathy,
Okay, Im glad to hear that. I get into enough trouble without anyone changing what I say on my own LOL Claudia [This message has been edited by Daryl Fawcett (edited November 22, 2000).]

Daryl, Hi ...yes I see Maggie Mae there. I appreciate you doing the picture for me. Its going to take a while for me to get the hang of this forum. Im used to it being in a different format where I usually go. So I forgot to go back to the Nature forum and thank you for it. Just so everyone knows, thats a picture of Maggie Mae after she got all better and wasnt sick anymore. (she always lays on her back like that when she goes to sleep... ) Thanks again Daryl... Claudia

Christmas 1967 Henrietta was my xmas present to myself. I have a photo of her climbing my xmas tree. Pure white, and certainly not deaf! Her favourite activity was to hide in the garden when I was weeding, and bat my hands! Loved to climb trees, she was a delight for 16 years, always there with me in the garden. I have not owned a cat quite like her since.Miss her still, she was one of those 'special' pets that were 'almost human'. Thanks for the reminder Darryl, lovely photo. Be Still, my Soul. Zita

I have something sad that I am finally posting here. Prince's brother, Silver, died on Wednesday, January 17, 2001. We still miss him very much. We are both still in the grieving stage. I will be placing a picture of him here in this forum soon. __________________________ In His Love, Mercy & Grace Daryl

I'm so sorry Daryl. That is terrible to lose another one. I hope our pets will be brought back to us in Heaven. It doesn't seem like too much to ask. I think God delights in doing wonderful little things like that for us. I had a shaded-silver persian kitty who was run over by a car. Also, my very first Arabian horse was pure white and gorgeous. She died of twisted gut as a result of cancer in her intestines. Morbidly enough I cut the tail hair and saved it braided for years. I'd love to have her there to climb on her bareback and run through unlimited fields without getting tired or having to go to bed when mom calls. I can't wait for Heaven. This whole thread is just making me homesick for Heaven. That's a good thing though. This world pales in comparison to spending eternity with our lovely Jesus and Heavenly Father. I was impressed to ring my girlfriend yesterday. I discovered that the day before she had taken her cat to the Vet, concerned that he was failing as he was 17 years old. She had to make the dreadful decision on the spot as he was too ill and would only suffer. She was really hurting, and I was glad to have made the phonecall. Our pets are very precious to us, given by God who knew just how much we would need them for comfort, friendship - that is all some people have or can trust in this life. This story was in our local paper this week. Rescue alert for cruising cat. An international mercy mission has been launched to rescue a Taranaki cat who has stowed away on a methanol tanker. Taranaki is in the North Island of New Zealand A crew member of the Tomiwhaka had taken the friendly tortoiseshell, called Colin's, on board two weeks ago. They fell asleep in his cabin and when they awoke the tanker had left port. The tanker is now somewhere north of Papua New Guinea on the way to Korea. Colin's is resident puss at Port Taranaki's tanker terminal and staff there are organising a ship-to-ship transfer to another tanker heading to New Plymouth. They fear that if she is taken ashore in Korea to wait for the next ship to New Plymouth, she may then have to be quarantined for several months before being allowed into New Zealand. "We hear there are about three methanol tankers in the general area which are scheduled to sail to Port Taranaki," tanker terminal watch-house staff member Garth Stone said yesterday. "There's all sorts of action going on regarding a possible transer. We hope it works - our cat's a lovely little thing." Colin's, so named bedcause she was originally adopted by an employee called Colin and became known as Colin's Cat, has loved at the port for nine years. "She thinks she runs the place," said Mr Stone.

More on the Stowaway: Thr kitten lying on the Taranaki coast was just a handful of fluff when Colin Butler slipped her into his pocket about 13 years ago. The cat that became known as Colin's spent 2 weeks in that pocket before taking her 1st steps at the Port Taranaki tanker terminal. Today, Colin's is known world-wide for stowing away on a methanol tanker for Korea. But in her early years, she was known only to ship and port workers - as the friend who ate when they ate, who followed them around the docks, who would venture onto New Zealand ships but never onto a foreign one. As she grew, Colin's purged her territory of feral cats and drove off any non-human that ventured into the tanker terminal, including dogs. But she was always friendly to people, and especially children. "She was such a happy little soul," former tanker terminal manager Mr Butler said from his retirement home in Brisbane yesterday. "She's a very intelligent cat, with her own spirit, quite extraordinary." Koreans loved her immediately, despite their fondness for cat soup. Korean sailors would yell, "Where's cat?" whenever they visited Port Taranaki. A Korean engineer took Colin's onto the tanker Tomiwaka for a feed three weeks ago, just before it left port. This weekend Whiskas petfood will pay for terminal superintendant Gordon MacPherson to fly to Yeosu to meet Colin's when she arrives in port - and fly her back home. And what does Mr Butler think of all the fuss over the "so small, so kitenish" friend that bears his name? "I'm astounded to think there's so much going on for a cat," he says. "But as far as I am concerned, she's worth it."

Colin's the stoway cat received a heros welcome as her big adventure came to an end in New Plymouth yesterday. A white limousine and several Television caneras met Colin's and her minder, Gordon MacPherson at the Airport after a flight from South Korea. "Colin's is happy to be back and she is in excellent condidton," Mr MacPherson said, stepping off the plane amid the cameras clicking. "Meowwwwwwwww." agreed Colin's. When she finally arrived at her home ar Port Taranaki yesterday, more than 50 workers, the Mayor and the Taranaki Cat Club reprensentatives cheered her arrival. Once inside, Colin's was released from her cage, with more applause and camera clicking. "Thanh you for coming to rescue me," said Colin's translator, Mr McPherson. "When I settle down I will write to everyone, but todat I am a bit jetlagged. It's the first time I've beeb on a 747 aeroplane and I'm tired. The Mayor thanked Colin's for bringing publicity to New Plymouth and awarded her an honorary ambassadorship of the city. But Colin's was having none of it and ran into a corner. Colin's was also made honorary member of the Cat's Club and invited to attend the 2002 show. Colin's head started twitching and her ears flattened. A Whiska's spokesperson said Lucky Petfoods understood the special place pets had with people which is why it had helped reunite Colin's with people at the Port. Whiskers also gave Colin's a lifetime supply of Whiskers cat food. Then Colin's was taken outside and away from all people. She looked purrfectly at home and even eyed a nearby bird. Mr MacPherson said the trip went smoothly and people were very helpful. I'm a little bit tired. I've had about 10 hours sleep since I left." He said he and Colin's received first class treatment all the way and Korean Airlines upgraded his seat. Mr MacPherson's parting words to Colin's before heading for rest himself was: Don't ever talk to any strangers again."

Mandy was one of those cats, well loved, but somehow always a pain to the owners. Came the day when she took her final visit to the vet. A few days later the wife came home and found an unmarked brown envelope sitting on the windowledge. She gave it to her husband who discovered to his dismay that it contained a white powder. Husband naturally called the police who took it away for investigation, while the man of the house was instructed to shower and wash his clothes, just incase it was anthrax. Investigations revealed the remains of a cat, and the penny dropped! Not wanting to upset the owner, the vet had slipped the envelope through the open window. "See", said the husband, "she is still being a pain!"
