Well, winter is really here now. I don’t care what the calendar says, as far as I am concerned, once we get snow and it stays on the ground, it’s winter! And we’ve had snow on the ground all week, and it keeps right on coming down, on and off. Of course, you Canadians are probably going to say, “so what? We’ve had six feet of snow on the ground for over a month now,” but this is Michigan I’m talking about.
We have been having quite a heavy snow all week. Roads and highways have been shut down, accidents resulting in multi-car pile-ups, and a slowdown in my husband’s work, as it is awfully hard to carry on with construction projects with so much snow in the way.
What I would really like to know is why it is that my going out for my daily walk seems to be the signal for it to start snowing, and hard! Not immediately, mind you, but only once I am at least a mile from home. I wouldn’t mind this at all except for one thing: on the way back, I always have to face into the wind, and my glasses get so covered with snow I can’t see! Ah well, a little snow isn’t going to keep me inside! I saw deer hoofprints in the snow this morning – a reminder of what I have to look forward to throughout the winter. I’ll always know which of my animal friends has been around, and where. Can’t wait!
