My son saw the first robin yesterday, just in time for a big snow storm. But we have been having some milder weather lately, in between the winter weather. I haven't seen any flowers coming up yet though. How about the rest of you? Any signs of spring's return in your neck of the woods? ------------------ The Lord is the strength of my life and my portion forever.

I saw some robins this week when I was out walking. The tulips and daffodils are poking up through the ground. The air finally has the feel of spring in it rather than winter. I can hardly wait. Oh yes, I've been hearing a lot more birds singing lately--a good sign spring is coming. ------------------ For I know that my redeemer liveth, and that he shall stand at the latter day upon the earth. _________________________ Linda

This morning we're having a late-winter snowstorm. Weather like this is almost unheard of in Chatham. A week ago last year the temperature went up to 76 degrees! Now it feels more like what I experienced in the Northern Prairies. What's strange is that I haven't seen any robins yet! Last week, though, I saw a line of swans flying towards Lake Erie. I'm not sure of their migrating patterns, but I'm sure that increased activity on the "flyway" is a good sign that spring's almost here. Oh yes, I've also seen several cardinals lately. ------------------ Be glad for all God is planning for you. Be patient in trouble, and always be prayerful. Rom. 12:12 NLT

We've had robins for almost three weeks. But the weather has been so bizarre, I don't know where they go in the bad times. We normally have blooming trees and flowers by now, but with the severe drought conditions we are having even the evergreens are dying. It's really sad to see because I live in a rain forest. This should never happen in this area. We are hoping that even if we don't like it, we have a very rainy summer. If we don't get it, severe consequences are to follow. Washington has now been declared a state of emergency for both drought and earthquake relief. Amazing. I've never seen it like this. And we are still having small, yet severe, earthquakes! Wendy

Yesterday the weather was beautiful: sunny and 50 degrees F when I went out to walk. I didn't wear a hat or gloves, although I discovered that the wind was still pretty nippy, so I was glad that my jacket had a hood and pockets! The hyacinths and tulips by my front door are just beginning to come up, and around by the back, the irises have been up for a few days. Other than that, I have not seen any signs of Spring plant growth. I didn't even find any volunteer pansies blooming in my garden. I guess I was too diligent in picking off the dead blossoms last year! But early this morning I awoke to the sound of the the mourning doves' call - another sign of Spring. And I have been seeing the birds collecting materials for nests, and performing their courtship rituals. ------------------ The Lord is the strength of my life and my portion forever.

The high today here, on the first day of spring, was about 70 degrees! It felt more like late spring. The high in Phoenix, Arizona got up to 90 degrees today!

Our nice spring weather has been interrupted by winter's last stand. We've had snow and cold since Saturday night. But this is typical of Michigan for this time of year, and it won't last long. I'd rather be here than Phoenix, anyway. 90 is too hot, even for summer! I do have a budding crocus next to the front door, though. ------------------ The Lord is the strength of my life and my portion forever.[This message has been edited by Cathy Sears (edited March 26, 2001).]

Daryl, If it makes you feel any better. We still have snow on the ground here. Just had blizzard conditions on Sunday. I wish spring would come. Frog

To make matters worse, we just had another 20 to 30 cm of snow land on top of what we still have on the ground. I wonder when we are going to really see the signs of Spring beyond the time being moved ahead by one hour over night. __________________________ In His Love, Mercy & Grace Daryl

The sun is setting later, the days are getting longer. Isn't that a sign of spring, Daryl? JJ Jeremy - I edited your post because here you need to use white instead of silver.[This message has been edited by Cathy Sears (edited March 31, 2001).]

Today we returned home from church to discover 4 crocuses blooming by the front door. These are the very first spring blooms I've seen, but there are still no signs of greenery in the woods or meadows, though there are some plants greening up along the creek bank. We also had some light rain today instead of snow, though this isn't the first rain of the year. And more is predicted throughout the coming week, including a possible thunderstorm. ------------------ The Lord is the strength of my life and my portion forever.

This morning, April 1st, we woke up to lots more snow on the ground on top of the snow that is still on the ground. To top it off, it is still snowing outside. __________________________ In His Love, Mercy & Grace Daryl

We woke up to a light covering of snow on the ground this morning too. But it was all melted by afternoon. My husband just returned from 2 weeks in Texas. He is quite a bit darker than he was when he left! He's been enjoying hot, sunny weather for the last 2 weeks. At least he has finally gotten over whatever he had that was hanging on for so long. ------------------ The Lord is the strength of my life and my portion forever.

Spring seems to be really here now. We've enjoyed several warm days, had our first spring thunderstorm (though we had one in January, a very unusual phenomenon around here), and not only have the birds been doing all their normal springtime activities for some time now, but the spring peepers (tree frogs) are now singing their hearts out! I love nature's music this time of year! ------------------ The Lord is the strength of my life and my portion forever.

The weather has been wonderful all week. SPRING HAS SPRUNG, and I love it!This is what has crept into my mind everyday when I could get up and open the doors and windows. Then go out and dig in the earth and plant flowers, early ones, of course. ------------------ For I know that my redeemer liveth, and that he shall stand at the latter day upon the earth. _________________________ Linda

It's been in the 70's here for several days, and we've had the windows open for at least part of the day, every day since Friday. ------------------ The Lord is the strength of my life and my portion forever.

One nice thing is that we didn't receive the snow that was forecasted, however, they are now calling for snow on Friday. The snow is also melting, however, we still have lots of snow to melt. __________________________ In His Love, Mercy & Grace Daryl

Hi Lisa! I have a cousin named Lisa. Last year I saw her for the first time in 20 years. Today we're having snow! Some flakes seem to be the size of pizza pies--and they're piling up! Growing up in southern Ontario I always remembered it being chilly on April 1 and then starting to be very warm. What's going on here?! ------------------ Be glad for all God is planning for you. We had snow again last weekend, but now it has been more like spring this week. It hit 100 degrees in Phoenix yesterday for the first time this year. It still hasn't gotten up to 80 degrees here, though. We're having a thunderstorm today. JJ[This message has been edited by JJ (edited April 26, 2001).]

Because I sometimes am unable to hike due to a back condition, I will sometimes go to the Botanical Gardens where dogs are allowed on leads on the outskirts. This takes you through the Daffodil area, very English, with large oak trees and masses of daffodils. I was very suprised today to see 2 daffodils out, as we have another month of winter to go yet before Spring. I am enjoying watching the bulbs coming through the ground, and anticipating the beautiful blooms they will produce in the spring.
Spring, with a beauty that tends to take one's breath away.Spring, I think, is Creation at it's best.
