It has been extremely cold in Canada the last few days and will be for another few days.
Right now as of 5:00 p.m. AST, the temperature outside is -19 C (-2 F) with a wind chill of -30 C (-21 F).

We had 2-3 inches of snow here today; three days ago it was 65° F. (18° C.) and sunny.

John, How do you do that degree number as in 65° F? In case you are wondering, I copied that from your post.

I live in Oregon and it has been really cold here lately. It got down to a -2 F. degrees here and windchill to -24 F. Plus we have a lot of snow now. But I know we are further south than Canada...I can imagine it gets cold there.

I guess all this cold weather is just another proof of the 'global warming' theory, huh. ;-)
Daryl, to get the degree symbol ° you can use the Character Map. It's in the Start Menu under Programs > Accessories > System Tools on most Windows computers. Or, you can go Start > Run > type the word 'charmap' (without the quotes) > click OK. Once in Character Map, you can see a lot of alternative characters that you can select and copy, then paste into whatever you're typing. (Ctrl-V will paste)
Or, you can go the direct route and use Alt + 0176 -- in other words, hold down the Alt key, and while holding it down, type 0176 on the keypad at the right-hand side of the keyboard (not the numbers across the top of the letters area). For this to work, the keyboard Num Lock must be turned on.
All of the alternative characters have Alt + numbers assigned to them. When you click on the individual characters in Character Map, the Alt + numbers show up at the bottom right corner of the Character Map window. The French letter ç is Alt + 0231, for example. The fraction ¾ is Alt + 0190.

The global warming is down under!
We are experiencing a "Summer from Hell" to quote the morning headlines.
Firefighters are exhausted
Animals are dying.
The Canterbury Plains are partched brown.
The water table is at the lowest on record.
And this is just the begining of our Summer.
We are experiencing heat in the 30's to 40's where 25c would be the highest.
The heat from the sun is not pleasant, it just burns. It also takes the colour out of the flowers.
On a nearby Island hurricane Heta has demolished the main town, everything flattened by huge waves that came crashing in leaving 200 Islanders without homes, water or electricity or a hospital. It was thought the homes demolished were well out of harms way.
And when you see these things happening, look up - for your redemption draweth nigh.

We got almost a foot and a half of snow and have been snowed in for a week. We just got out yesterday and almost didn't. Also, the other night it was supposed to have been around 1degreeF overnight. Hauling 20 gallons of water a day from house to barn for the horses is not fun in that cold! wf

What a contrast!!!!! From the freezer in Canada and parts of the USA, to the furnace in Australia and New Zealand!!! I heard on the news about the fires in Australia that I also heard was purposely started, and that they are looking for whoever started it/them.

Now that is insanely cold!!!
Before I was an Adventist, I lived very near the first SDA church in Washington, New Hampshire (ironically) in the winter of 1988. It got to -40°F and stayed that way for 5 weeks! I remember trees exploding and the moan of the river ice. Noooo thanks! I pray for all who are in such freezing conditions.
