What Ellen White Said About All Her Writings

I came across this interesting EGW quote which prompted the creation of this new topic: "There is one straight chain of truth, without one heretical sentence in that which I have written" (3SM 53). Any thoughts on this?

It stands to reason. The Holy Spirit doesn't inspire His prophets to write lies!

Well I don't think she'd be going around saying her books are filled with flaws not would she?

Actually, I wouldn't say anything either way, unless I knew where it came from.
In other words, if, like EGW, I knew it came straight from God, then I would say what she said.

I thought I’d post more context: quote: I am now looking over my diaries [SEE FOOTNOTE, P. 32.] and copies of letters written for several years back. . . . I have the most precious matter to reproduce and place before the people in testimony form. While I am able to do this work, the people must have things to revive past history, that they may see that there is one straight chain of truth, without one heretical sentence, in that which I have written. This, I am instructed, is to be a living letter to all in regard to my faith.--Letter 329a, 1905. {3SM 52.2}
I think to Windmill’s point, heretical is in the eye of the disbeliever. EGW with this statement could not make people who wanted to discredit her, believe her.
Along those lines, here’s another interesting quote from just previous to the one above:
quote: I am exceedingly anxious to use words that will not give anyone a chance to sustain erroneous sentiments. I must use words that will not be misconstrued and made to mean the opposite of that which they were designed to mean.--Manuscript 126, 1905. {3SM 52.1}
For all her efforts, people still debate what she meant by this or that—same as with other inspired writers.

If, by "same as with other inspired writers" you are referring to the inspired writers of the Bible, then, yes, I agree with you.

Is it the same spirit that is used to discredit Bible writers, and the authenticity of the Bible found in those who misread what Sister Whitte has written? Along the same line of thought there are people who use Sister White's writings as Holy Writ instead of going to the Bible itself, and will make some unusual statements which have to be read in context as you understand it vs someone telling you how you should understand it. The same mode of operation is seen with people justifying some crazy doctrines from a verse in the Bible literally a verse here, or choose 1/4 of the Bible and pit it against the rest of the Bible to justify things as oncesaved always saved, and things of that nature. God Bless, Will

I think that although an odd item may seem to be outside the traditonal beliefe, with the entire context, all God inspiered writings are in compleat harmony.
