I just read the following Bible verse: Quote:
2Cor. 11:4 For if he that cometh preacheth another Jesus, whom we did not preach, or if ye receive a different spirit, which ye did not receive, or a different gospel, which ye did not accept, ye do well to bear with him.
Another Jesus?
Who could this other Jesus be that this verse is referring to?
Any thoughts out there?

Yes. This exact thought was what Robert Wieland shared with the 1950 General Conference session, when the leadership asked for requests of what could be done better. They didn't understand his meaning, and so requested that it be put down in writing, which is what led to the writing of "1888 Revisited." There's a whole story behind this book, which I won't get into now, seeing as it's time for bed. If there's any interest, I'll share some details about it.
The question of what Jesus is really like is a crucial one, as the whole purpose of His mission was to reveal God to us. If we get mixed up on what Jesus is like, we must of necessity misunderstand God.
Those who wait for the Bridegroom's coming are to say to the people, "Behold your God." The last rays of merciful light, the last message of mercy to be given to the world, is a revelation of His character of love.

I believe Paul was referring to ideas of Jesus that others were circulating, ideas that were false. I don't think he was referring to another guy named Jesus.

Yes, Tom, share some details about it, especially as a pertains to this topic.

Sorry Daryl, I missed your first post. Thanks for reasking. In 1950 R. J. Wieland and Donald Short were missionaries in Africa. They came back to the states, which was being held in San Francisco that year. In those days the missionaries took ships to get across the ocean, so they had ample opportunity to discuss things. In particular, they were interested in how best to reach those in Africa they were ministering to. When they got to San Francisco, the leadership asked if there was something they could be doing better. Wieland expressed the reservation that we had been following a false Christ, being of the persuasion that somehow we had gone off course following the events of 1888. The name "Christ" was being mentioned, but the Gospel of Christ, as God gave it to us in 1888, was not being presented; instead popular Evangelical ideas were being presented instead, such as "the victorious life" concepts. Wieland reltated our experience with that of Baal worship, where the Israelites thought they were worshipping the true God ("Baal" means "Lord", so when they cried out "Baal" they were really crying out "Lord." Similarly when Christ said not all that say unto me "Lord, Lord," it could be translated, "Not all that say unto me "Baal, Baal") when really they were being fooled by a counterfeit. The leadership didn't understand what Wieland was saying, so asked him to write it out. I should have mentioned earlier that Wieland had written a letter expressing his reservations over what was happening in the church, he asked Short to read it over and see what he thought. Short asked if he could sign his name along with Wieland's, and that's how their partnership started. What came out of what they wrote was a 200 page manuscript called "1888 Re-Examined" which they put together in about 3 days. In those days, much of what Ellen White had written about 1888 was kept under wraps, and Wieland and Short depended on people who had known Ellen White personally and had letters and manuscripts to share. They put together her endorsements of 1888 in their manuscript, and argued that 1888 era had not been a time of victory, as the leadership had been suggesting. The leadership did not agree with the manuscript, but presented no counterarguments. The leadership asked that Wieland and Short not pursue the matter, but just return to their roles in Africa as missionaries, which they did. However, the manuscript, without Wieland and Short's knowledge, was copied and sent around the world. Here's an article from Adventist Today written in 2000 which goes into more detail: http://www.atoday.com/magazine/archive/2000/marapr2000/articles/1888.shtml

Or it could be translated (not all that say unto me "Adonai, Adonai" ...)
