Another name for the Holy Spirit is the Spirit of truth.

The Holy Spirit is to guide us into all truth.

This being the case, why do we have so many denominations proclaiming truth that is in variance to each other?

Isnt it generally so that God reveals truth trough some persons. These people preach and many accept and in time a new denomination has formed. The next generation God has more to share and again talks trough one or more persons, however, the vast majority of the previous reformation refuses to move even one inch beyond what was revealed to their pioneers. So a new smal group is formed that eventually forms into a new denomination. For example, Luther - Wesley/methodism - SDA pioneers/Adventism - ? .

It says that the Holy Spirit will guide us into all truth, not just certain persons.

Everybody who lets themselves be guided, pray that this will include us!

Here's an interesting thought and question from the Sabbath School Teacher's Edition of the Adult Sabbath School Study Guide:
