Fight the good fight of faith"
1 Timothy 6:11,12.

Fighting the good fight of faith is following after the fruit of the Spirit - "love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance"
Galatians 5:22,23.

"Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen"
Hebrews 11:1.

Exercising faith in the promises of God produces tangible proof - the fruit of the Spirit.

"Faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God"
Romans 10:17.

Consequently, fighting the good of faith is also experiencing the promises of God.

Amen! The fruit of faith is the fruit of the Spirit. Awesome! What can't God do with a heart and mind totally sumbitted and surrendered to Him? Amazing!

I like the fact that God didn't say - Fight the good fight of SIN. We become like what we behold. 2 Cor 3:18. And if we were to go around concentrating on the bad things we're not supposed to do... man, life would be a mess, eh?

I also like the fact that God didn't say - Fight the good fight of righteousness. Life would be miserable if we had to contantly worry about whether or not we're doing what we're supposed to be doing.

Yes, I'm so grateful that everything falls into place when we keep our eyes on Jesus! Whenever I'm tempted I fight the good fight of faith keeping my eyes on Jesus, and the results are more than wonderful - the fruit of the Spirit. Thank you Jesus.

I would be curious to see if anyone has a comment/thought on what does it mean to "exercise" "faith" in one of God's promises?

Is there a specific example someone could give us?

I'll attempt to share an example that is meaningful to me.

To exercise faith in one of God's promises means to take comfort in the meaning of the promise when tried, tested or tempted to doubt God's word.

I believe Jesus must have experienced this kind of thing when on Calvary He declared - It is finished. Father into thy hands do I commit My spirit.

Things were pretty dark for our precious Lord and for Him to believe that God was pleased with His eternal sacrifice simply blows my mind.

Another example comes to mind now. The fact that Jesus even believed He was the promised Messiah is an amazing act of faith. I don't think He was born with that knowledge, but rather that He believed first His mother and then other signs as time rolled on.

Does that qualify for examples?

I think that exercising faith in God's promises sometimes just means that we trust in Him even though we are tempted not to. For example, if I give a problem to God and ask Him to solve it, I am exercising faith by not fretting or worrying over it. To put it out of mind and wait for God to answer. To know that He hears me and trust that His will is best no matter what. Sometimes it is hard and I need to keep reminding myself that God has everything under control and I need to do nothing more.
