Hi Mark, That is interesting. I was unaware that Quebec law was not founded on common law. What is the foundation for Quebec law? In the Canadian Federal/Provincial system does provinincial law (criminal and civil) have to conform to federal law? If so, it would be interesting to study the relationship between Quebec and the Candian Supreme Court, especially in relation to appeals that have come out of Quebec courts and gone up through the Federal courts. Seems that it would be quite challenging to take a verdict made under Quebec law and appeal it in a sytem that is fundamentally different.
Sorry, I know this is
but interesting.
