Why do people fear/hate Ellen White?
It seems that the critique of Ellen White goes far beyond just disagreement, they have websites dedicated to destroying, debunking, belittling any of her writings. Some former Adventist almost go white with anger a the mention of her, theories that the rock that broke her nose may have had a affect, it goes to the realm of making her look as a extremist or mentally unbalance writer. Anyone that reads her writings knows that is not the case, that she clearly was inspired of God, yet it seems that many hate and fear what is in her writtings.

Yes, whatever angle can be found, but the in-house favourite is her line on Christian perfection: the latest, Bradford's books, is caused by his difference with her about Christ's humanity; the basis of so many related doctrines.
All rather nasty: what else have you come across - can't call it "dug up" like a treasure cos it aint!...:)

Isn't man's standard battle cry, "kill the messenger".  When has mankind ever embrace the messenger? Can you name even one? Didn't, we killed the greatest messenger of all? Well there were those false "messengers" during Jeremiah's time, that were embrace for a while.

As this is a current disscussion of Ellen, I will share here, an email that I received yesterday. It was passed along, asking to spread the word of the 2nd Annual Center for Bible, Faith and Mission Seminar Retreat. I'll just paste it into a quote box. I suspect one of the reasons so many people make of none effect the Testimonies, the SOP, is because certain compilations divorce her comments from the loving context in which they were couched.

I think you have some truth there. Ellen's work was given in love for the church. She also had a great love for God, and she tried to relate Gods message to us in love. Perhaps we are at fault for not using the message with love?

For personal study, I do try to find where a statement was first made. The earliest publication of where the statement was first given, I look for to give me a better understanding.
