RLW: What's your point in all this? The Jews still cursed by God? You're beginning to sound like someone looking for Biblical support for anti-semitism.

MM: Whoa! Who said anything about anti-semitism? There is no faster way to kill a Bible study than to throw around that accusation.

He mentioned anti-semitism because the same arguments you are using are similar to those that anti-semites have used. That isn't to say that you are thinking along the same lines as the anti-semites, but it's easy to see why he would ask the question.

Those who wait for the Bridegroom's coming are to say to the people, "Behold your God." The last rays of merciful light, the last message of mercy to be given to the world, is a revelation of His character of love.

I should have found a better way to state my objection without insinuating that you're anti-semitic. I will give you the benefit of the doubt on that.

Do you give God the benefit of the doubt when He allowed the Romans to destroy the Jews in AD 70?

Doesnt that depend on if the AD70 destruction of Jerusalem was something extraordinary or just one more rehersal of Carthago?

MM: Do you give God the benefit of the doubt when He allowed the Romans to destroy the Jews in AD 70?

TE: The benefit of what doubt?

MM: Is God anti-semitic because He allowed the Romans to destroy the Jews in AD 70? Or, do we give Him the benefit of the doubt and assume He is not?

..............

TV: Doesnt that depend on if the AD70 destruction of Jerusalem was something extraordinary or just one more rehersal of Carthago?

MM: I do not doubt that God allowed the Romans in AD 70 to fulfill His will in destroying the Jews who had filled up the cup of God's wrath and indignaiton.

GC 35, 36
The Jews had forged their own fetters; they had filled for themselves the cup of vengeance. In the utter destruction that befell them as a nation, and in all the woes that followed them in their dispersion, they were but reaping the harvest which their own hands had sown. Says the prophet: "O Israel, thou hast destroyed thyself;" "for thou hast fallen by thine iniquity." Hosea 13:9; 14:1. Their sufferings are often represented as a punishment visited upon them by the direct decree of God. It is thus that the great deceiver seeks to conceal his own work. By stubborn rejection of divine love and mercy, the Jews had caused the protection of God to be withdrawn from them, and Satan was permitted to rule them according to his will. The horrible cruelties enacted in the destruction of Jerusalem are a demonstration of Satan's vindictive power over those who yield to his control. {GC 35.3}

This has to be way up on the list of wierd questions. Why not just make whatever point you have in mind rather than ask questions like this?

-Is God anti-north africans when He allowed the Romans to sack and burn Carthago? Is God anti Aztec when He allowed the Spanish to enslave or kill them? Is God anti european when He allowed millioins to die in waging the world wars?

-Which other groups/tribes/nations can we think about that likewise must have filled up the cup of God's wrath and indignation? The Kurds? The Armenians? The people who worked in the NY Twin Towers? The north American indians/natives? And the south American natives all as they gain contact with civilization and relevant flues and childs illnesses? The Vandals? The Romani? The people who live in southern Sudan in Darfur region? The Hutu/Tutsi of Rwanda and Burundi? All peoples south of Sahara who are dying of AIDS? Im sure someone better read will know of many more.

MM: No, of course not. And neither I am anti-semitic simply because I asked if God allowing the holocaust was a continuation of the Jews reaping what they sowed?

TV: Which other groups/tribes/nations can we think about that likewise must have filled up the cup of God's wrath and indignation?

MM: Who knows? Without the Bible to inform us, we would only be guessing, right? I do not doubt that God allowed the Romans in AD 70 to fulfill His will in destroying the Jews who had filled up the cup of God's wrath and indignation. Why? Because the Bible clearly says so. Do you agree? There are several other places in the Bible where God plainly says a specific nation was destroyed because they had filled up the cup of God’s wrath. Do you agree?

………………………

TE: This has to be way up on the list of wierd questions. Why not just make whatever point you have in mind rather than ask questions like this?

MM: Tom, please refrain from saying my question tops your fictitious list of weird questions. It is rude, and insensitive.
