He did. Acts 9:19 And when he had received meat, he was strengthened. Then was Saul certain days with the disciples which were at Damascus. 9:20 And straightway he preached Christ in the synagogues, that he is the Son of God. 9:21 But all that heard [him] were amazed, and said; Is not this he that destroyed them which called on this name in Jerusalem, and came hither for that intent, that he might bring them bound unto the chief priests? 9:22 But Saul increased the more in strength, and confounded the Jews which dwelt at Damascus, proving that this is very Christ.
The opposition grew so fierce that Paul was not allowed to continue his labors at Damascus. A messenger from heaven bade him leave for a time, and he "went into Arabia" (Galatians 1:17), where he found a safe retreat. {AA 125.2}

There is no excuse for any one in taking the position that there is no more truth to be revealed, and that all our expositions of Scripture are without an error. The fact that certain doctrines have been held as truth for many years by our people, is not a proof that our ideas are infallible. Age will not make error into truth, and truth can afford to be fair. No true doctrine will lose anything by close investigation. RH 12/20/1892

Perhaps that should tell us that the Gospel is not so much a set of theological assertions and tenets, but an experience that one can have now. As John said: What we have seen with our eyes, what we have heard with our ears, what we have touched with our hands - what we have experienced - we are telling you. But is it not essential for us to comprehend the mystery of godliness before we teach others? Should we not have some kind of an accurate yardstick with which we can measure the exact amount of humanity and divinity overlapping in His nature? Or is the fact that he forgives us unconditionally part of the Gospel? Do we tend to make the Gospel too simple?

"Here is a last piece of advice. If you believe in goodness and if you value the approval of God, fix your minds on the things which are holy and right and pure and beautiful and good. Model your conduct on what you have learned from me, on what I have told you and shown you, and you will find the God of peace will be with you."
