Faith is when you expect the Word of God to do exactly what that Word says, and you depend upon that Word to do exactly what that Word says. When this is clearly understood, then it is very easy to see how it is that, "Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen." (Heb.11:1).

Since the Word of God has creative power, and is able to produce in very substance, the thing which that Word speaks, and since faith is expecting the Word of God to do exactly what that Word says, it is clear that faith is, "the substance of things hoped for."

Since the Word of God is in itself creative, and so is able to produce and cause to appear, things that would otherwise, never exist, or be seen: and since faith is expecting the Word of God to do exactly what that Word says, and depending on God's Word to do exactly what it says, it is plain that, "faith is the evidence of things not seen."

Springs Of Living Water

“He that believeth on Me, as the Scripture hath said; out of [him] shall flow rivers of living water.” (Jo.7:38).

It is interesting to note that Jesus did not say: “He that believeth in Me shall realize the blessing, of the fullness of God;” but rather, He said: “He that believeth in Me; out of him shall escape everything he receives.” Out of your inner self shall flow Springs of Living Water!!

Christ’s teaching here, is the opposite to self-realization…to achieving our potential…to becoming morally perfect. (sorry watchmen, and legalists)...

The main purpose of Jesus is not the development of our personality; but, Jesus does have the goal of making us like Himself; and the main characteristic of Christ is self-sacrifice, and the giving out of whatever we receive of Him. Jesus is our peace! (Eph.2:14). Jesus is our wisdom! Jesus is our sanctification! (1 Cor.1:30). It is all Jesus or nothing! Without Jesus; we can't do a thing!! (Jo.15:5).

If I believe in Jesus Christ; it is not a case of what I have gained, or what I will gain. It is what Christ transfuses through me that counts. It is not a case of God making me into some beautifully rounded grape; but that He squeezes the sweetness out of me.: Philippians 2:12 “…Work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.”

In a truly converted Christian, the source of the will, is a divine source: “For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of His good pleasure.” (Phil.2:12). You have to “work out” with a passionately devoted focus and prudence, whatever God has worked in. You don’t work your own salvation; you “work it out.” Because it’s in there. Christ is in there; “both to will and to do.”

“ When you give yourself wholly to the Lord, great changes will be wrought in you. You will have such a love for the truth, that wherever you go you will bear witness to the Lord's power. (Rev.12:11).

He will give you a genuine testimony to bear. He will pour out upon you His grace and power, and you will enter a new and living way. (2 Cor.5:17). Christ's righteousness will go before you, and the glory of the Lord will be your rearward. Your words and works will be ratified in heaven. As you work out your own salvation with fear and trembling, God will work in you to will and to do of His good pleasure. Power to overcome will be given you. When the enemy comes in like a flood, the Spirit of the Lord will lift up a standard against him.”

Spiritually, how can I ever precisely measure my life by “success?” My life can only be measured by what God transfuses through me; how can I measure that in even myself, let alone other people?

"Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you." {#1Pe 5:7}

It is a happy way of soothing sorrow when we can feel — "HE careth for me."

Dear reader... do not dishonor your faith by always wearing a brow of care; come, cast your burden upon your Lord. You are staggering beneath a weight which your Father would not have any trouble at all in carrying. What seems to you a crushing burden, would be to him but as the smallest bit of dust in terms of weight. Nothing is so sweet as to

Lie passive in God’s hands,
And know no will but his.

O child of suffering, be thou patient; God has not passed you over in his providence. He who is the feeder of sparrows, will also furnish you with what you need. Don’t sit down in despair; hope on, hope always. Take up the arms of faith against a sea of trouble, and your opposition shall yet end your distresses. There is One who cares for you. His eye is fixed on you, his heart beats with pity for your woe, and his hand omnipotent shall yet bring you the needed help.

The darkest cloud shall scatter itself in showers of mercy. The blackest gloom shall give place to the morning. He, if thou art one of his family, will bind up thy wounds, and heal thy broken heart. Doubt not his grace because of thy tribulation, but believe that he loves you as much in seasons of trouble as in times of happiness. What a serene and quiet life might you lead if you would leave providing to the God of providence!

With a little oil in the cruse, and a handful of meal in the barrel, Elijah outlived the famine, and you will do the same. If God cares for you, why need you care too? Can you trust him for your soul, and not for your body? He has never refused to bear your burdens, Jesus has never fainted under their weight. Come, then, soul! have done with fretful care, and leave all thy concerns in the hand of a gracious God.

MH.251.001: " Nothing tends more to promote health of body and of soul than does a spirit of gratitude and praise. It is a positive duty to resist melancholy, discontented thoughts and feelings--as much a duty as it is to pray. If we are heaven-bound, how can we go as a band of mourners, groaning and complaining all along the way to our Father's house? "

“Commit…trust….and God worketh!” (Ps.37:5).

Come Unto Me

“Come unto Me all ye that labor and are heavy laden; and I will give you rest.” Mat.11:28.

Many who hear this invitation, while sighing and crying for rest, continue to stoically press forward on the rugged path; but still hugging their burdens close to their heart. This is so unfortunate! Jesus loves them; and He longs to bear their burdens, as well as themselves, in His strong arms. Jesus wants to remove the fears, the uncertainties, that so diligently rob us of the peace and rest that is rightfully our’s ; but the fact remains, that in most cases, we have to come to Him first, and tell Jesus all the inward woes of our heart….

Sometimes, we make the mistake of only pouring fourth our troubles into human ears; and fall into the trap of mostly telling of our afflictions to those who cannot really help us – at least not the way Jesus can. We must not neglect to confide all to Jesus, who is well able to change our sorrowful way to paths of joy and peace.

Jesus wants to be our Friend, to walk with us through all the rough pathways of our life…As Jesus Himself puts it: “I am the Lord thy God; walk with Me, and I will fill all thy paths with light.” Jesus, the King Of Kings, proposes to elevate to companionship with Himself, those who come to Him with their burdens, their weaknesses, and their cares:

“And I will bring the blind by a way that they knew not; I will lead them in paths that they have not known: I will make darkness light before them, and crooked things straight. These things will I do unto them, and not forsake them.” Isa.42:16

The invitation of Jesus, to each of us today, is a call to a pure, holy, and happy life – a life full of peace, and rest, and liberty, and love; and to a rich inheritance in the future, immortal life; and it is our privilege to have on a daily basis, a composed, close, and joyful walk with Jesus.

True rest is found only when all attempts at self-justification, all selfish rationalizations are put away. Entire self-surrender, an acceptance of His ways, is the secret of perfect rest in His love…Do just what Jesus tells you to in His Word, through prayer, and you can be assured that God will do all that He has said He will do…

Have you come to Jesus, renouncing all your expedients, all your unbeliefs, all your self-importance, and “holier than thou” ideas? It is good to realize that we can come to Jesus just as we are; weak, helpless, and ready to die.

What is the specific rest He promises? It is the consciousness that God is true, that Jesus never disappoints anyone who comes to Him with an open heart; and that His pardon is full and free, and His acceptance means rest to the soul, by rest in His love.

Every valley shall be filled, and every mountain and hill shall be brought low; and the crooked shall be made straight, and the rough ways shall be made smooth;
Luke 3:5
