This point is true, Västergötland. However, a few million people out of 6+ billion is not really a lot.

Well, folks, it is now Christmas Eve where I am located as I post this message.
It is my understanding that Christmas, and all the elements of Christmas, is a modified pagan holiday.

I got a wonderful Christmas pressent from my sister, the archives of Bible review up to 2003! I'll look up the exact year of the article and come back and post it.
Now Daryl, as to your last post, did you go to (hopefully your bookshelf, if not then the libarary, borrow on interlibarary loan if needed) the issue of Bible Review to look at the evidence before making your comment. Since you made a comment that sounds like you looked at the evidence, could you please share with us the shortfalls of the information in Bible Review? Thank you.
I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas, and for those of you with a sad Christmas, maybe an empty spot in the family circle of a loved one who fell a sleep this year, remember, while we like to argue over Christmas, the Bible expected us to spend this season to at least think of the story of Lazarus and to look forward to the resurection of our loved ones. Are we following that part of the Bible?

quote: Originally posted by Rob: On the contrary, Kevin, I did read your extensive post; I just don't think it's really relevant. (By the way, please cite your sources.) Who cares what the origins of a particular festival are? In the 21st century nobody associates Christmas with a pagan feast, deity, celebration, ect. It has been completely re-interpreted with a Christian meaning and history, so why ruin it for those whose faith is weak? If it does happen to actually have a Christian origin, so much the better.
Here I have to disagree Rob.
I have been silent on this post for a while as I was trying to find the exact text I was referring to in my last post. All of you seem to have taken the Jeremiah text I was referring to as being Jeremiah 10:1-4 however a few years ago I was shown a text which said explicitly 'Thou shalt not decorate the trees as the heathen do'(this was not the above reference) however I have lost the reference! (I find memorizing the references next to impossible). Anyway in my attempt to find that text I went through not only my bible concordances and Bible but also many many, websites to do with the origins of christmas various Christian websites and although there were a few who were saying 'does it all really matter?' the majority were so concerned with the heathen elements that although I thought I knew most things about the origins of this absolutely pagan feast I learnt so much more! Even from 'modern day pagans' trying to reclaim the feast which is rightfully their own!!!!
