Mike, I am afraid you have missed the point entirely. "The plea that we may urge now and ever is our utterly helpless condition that makes His redeeming power a necessity." D.A.317.
Our utterly helpless condition is described in Rev.3 as being "wretched and miserable and poor and blind and naked." The prophet Daniel, though he was guiltless, expressed this truth in his intercessory prayer: "Unto you O Lord belongs righteousness but unto us shame of face as at this day." Dan.9:7.
It is clear that some of us are not familiar with A.T. Jone's lectures numbers 8 and 9 at the 1893 General Conference, the latter rain message! [ May 30, 2002, 02:26 PM: Message edited by: adventbeliever ]

Yes David, there is joy in Heaven over one little one who acknowledges now and ever that what the faithful Witness says to Laodicea is the truth and nothing but the truth!

Brother AB, I had not seen your thread on here, as I have been away, but, only last night another board member and I were wondering about you. It is good to know we are all together, and our work each day is to keep close to Jesus, and learn more and more how to walk with Him as our guide.

AB, I think we've had this discussion before, about whether we are saints or sinners in Christ. I believe if we are walking in the Spirit and mind of the new man we are dead to sin and awake to righteousness. Thus, the description "wretched condition" does not apply.
The Laodicean condition applies to people who are not walking in the Spirit and mind of the new man. Those who are partaking of the gold, white raiment and eyesalve are in contrast, not in company, with those who are wretched, miserable, poor, blind and naked.
While we must continually recognize our utter helpless condition apart from Christ, we must also resist believing we are in a wretched condition in Christ. The two are not compatible.

Thanks Dora. It's good to know we are together on this! "Are you in Christ? Not if you do not acknowledge yourselves erring, helpless, condemned sinners." E.G. White, 1893 General Conference Bulletin, p.178. God justifies the ungodly. Rom.4:5. [ June 06, 2002, 01:44 AM: Message edited by: Activator ]

Activator AB, you are taking this quote out of context and misapplying it. Please read the entire quote in its context (posted above) and notice that it's talking about people who were seeking human approval and applause.
